Restart?

That also has nothing to do with the screen itself, more likely an application or, as stated above, you just need a restart.

you used the expose hack? if so change back because it makes a "whole" in your screen

Well, restart was my first try, and didnīt help the first time. Third time it did, but then the problem started again. I donīt use the hack. I use very few add-ons, since I need all the power for music production and donīt like thing getting messed up in the system Right now is fine, but the problem tends to come back again and again. I really donīt want to re-install the system, but I cannot see another option

run permissions, make sure the cron jobs are done, and if it happens/starts with only one app try reinstalling that app before you do a reinstall

Iīve already done all that, but thx anyway. The "hole" seems to appear when only the finder is running too, therefore I thing is a system problem. I just installed the security update a couple of days ago, and the hole started soon after that.
Anyone having problems with the update?

I don't know anything about this, but is there any way a gltch in the mouse driver software could cause this?

You get the prize for oddest symptom of the week, troubled. I've never heard of anything like that.

If you try dragging rectangles (a way of selecting) in the Finder, with no windows open, are there certain parts of the screen you can't click-drag from? Is the "problem area" exactly rectangular?

I must ask a quick question, and I apologize if this has already been tested, I didn't see it in the thread.

Please have Expose hide all the apps so that it is only showing the desktop. Does your desktop and all of the apps go into a little thumbnail window? Or do the all the windows slide off of the screen exposing the entire desktop?

The reason I ask is because I had the exact same symptoms and there is a reason for it, but I'd rather wait to see your response before commenting further. I don't want to skew the results of the above questions.

OF COURSE! Uīr righ, Quark! The hole was in the exact spot expose was placing the tiny desktop. I turned to the normal "hiding windows" as a precaution yesterday and the hole didnīt appear since. But I didnīt connect the two things until I read your post. Rozwel even asked if I was using the expose hack, but I said no `cause I thought it was a hidden feature, not a hack.
Well, end of a mistery. Thx all for your help!

what is this "expose hack"?

In Onyx (maybe some other app too) you can tell expose to put all the windows in a tiny square you can place anywhere in the screen, instead of sliding the windows out of the screen when you press F11
