View Full Version : Stupid Quick Question About Video Cards

I've searched on this forum and haven't found a good answer:
Is it worth it to invest the extra money in a premium video card, like the 4870, if I NEVER game, and only use the MP for FCP video (DVCPRO HD 1080P) and somewhat reasonable PS work (300mb images)?
What are the benefits?

hmm no real benefits if you arent gaming tbh. i believe some photoshop elements can use the GPU to compute, but dont quote me on that.
what res screen do you run? and what card do you have now?

I'm running a NEC 2690 (1920 x 1200) off of a MBP. I'm gonna purchase a 2010 MP if they ever come out (and doing my homework ahead of time).

ah ok. i think that the default GPU that comes with the MP will be fine for your needs. it will be updated no doubt with the 2010 MP updates :)

Yeah, it'll be fine. Save the money towards RAM.
