I know it’s pre-order for iPad for countries other than US. But US Apple store is also down?

A possibility of Air update?

Hopefully not just a regular maintenance. It may be a BTS promo. But new Air would be great :D

WWDC is going to be about iPhone, and (almost) only the iPhone/pod/pad/whatever. Actually right now is the perfect time for Apple to ship a new air, they just announced the ipad for non-us markets but arent shipping them yet, so there is minimal ipad buzz right now.

Let's hope it's down again tomorrow (Tuesday). Then I'll be looking for the little "New" badge over the Air.

You're assuming that the next air will have a huge update taking sunshine away from the iPhone, BUT a release around wwdc will simply mean that it will get a small bump in processing speed and 4gb

Awesome, I just sold my old MBP 15 2.53 this week too. Here's hoping for 4GB + 256GB SSD + 320M. Processor for me doesn't matter, i-whatever is nice but really the 4GB, large SSD, and better graphics means I won't have to settle for a MBP 13 2.4 320M + 256GB SSD + 1.5 pounds of weight.

It's going to have to be a pretty amazing update to keep me from going to a MBP, Air just can't keep up with what I do on it these days..

I don't care if they still use C2D, it's the 2GB RAM that bothers the crap outta me.

They would have gone down over an hour ago if the update were to happen today. Maybe next Tuesday. That was the date reported a few weeks ago anyways. We still have plenty of chances. The good news is we have not only a potential product number but also rumors from several sources pointing to an MBA update soon.

There will always be a next tuesday.

Incidentally I keep getting really excited for about half a second every time I read this thread title!

Disappointing in a way for sure ... I think it's time I settle in with my 13" MBP and appreciate it, it's a great machine could be worse.

You know, it's only three weeks until WWDC. If it doesn't happen by then, I would be really disappointed. However, there have been many rumors about an MBA coming soon. I really believe it will be by WWDC at the latest. Otherwise, many sources that have been correct about many other rumors are wrong about the MBA. It just makes sense for an MBA with an Nvidia 320m by WWDC.

Ahh it would be awesome if Apple updates the MBA in the next few weeks! As long as they dont up the price to much for the SSD model, has 4 gb ram I will get it, as that should be more than enough to run parallels with win7!

It would be strange if it were any other day especially if it didn't correlate with a live event of some sort. If there's a federal holiday on a Monday, then it could be on a Wednesday. In this case, the odds would be extremely low that it would happen between now and next Tuesday am. I would think it's more likely that Apple would introduce a $99 MBA next Tuesday than a new MBA tomorrow - meaning it really isn't going to happen tomorrow! God I hope this is one of those times when I truly get caught with my foot in my mouth being completely wrong!

Ok thanks. I have been using Mac's for years but have not yet gotten fanatical to the point where I know what day of the week the products are released. In fact it has only been in the last year that I have actually watched the live updates of keynotes and such. And it is only been this month where I have started reading rumors and visiting forums to talk about computers. Give me a break.

Ah come on, when is it happening? I secured money and got an approval from my wife as well, can't sleep well thinking about it, had a dream early this week that imac and MBA were flying in my head.

I will now act as advisor to my fellow forum member: Be careful how freely you throw your thoughts of obsession around or you will be accused of being addicted to the MBA... might even end up in a counseling session or two with others of us. Admitting this is half the battle.

Last time I bought a new mac was like 6 years ago. I saw MBA in keynote and thought "Come on who is going to buy it"(just like those people scoffing at MBA and buying ipads)
but I saw and touched an actual one at Apple store in Giza or somewhere then changed my mind set.

It's as simple as this. While the MBA might look like fun, until one uses it and gives it a try in a real world situation, they're not going to select it over the competition. The biggest problem is the MBA has been exactly the same for 19 months! People want NEW when they're paying $1799 for a Mac notebook. People want current and relevant along with what's capable to do their daily computing workload.

Apple has been treating its Macs more and more like consumer electronics than computers. This is a problem for those of us who expect our technology to be new and forward thinking. It's difficult to see the value in buying an MBA that hasn't been updated in 19 months, when one can buy an MB that was updated seven months ago or a 13" MBP that was updated a few weeks ago for less money than they can buy the ancient MBA.

More than anything, people are not willing to buy luxury technology devices that are outdated. Why would one even consider an MBA right now? I seriously don't understand the thought of buying a 19-month-old MBA for $1799. Now, if Apple updated the MBA, even if the update wasn't large, it would give buyers a reason to at least consider the MBA again. In a world of hi-tech, paying more money for not less performance, but a completely outdated computer, is never going to fly. Apple needs to upgrade the MBA if it wants to sell the MBA. And there lies the biggest problem... with $40B in the bank, Apple can shift all of its resources to the iPad/iPhone and not worry about the MBA. So until the MBA is updated, I wouldn't recommend the MBA to anyone. The MBA might be fun right now but it's a terrible value proposition!

I don't think anybody does. You can see on amazon the standing within the sales rank. Under product details

http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MacBook-MC233LL-13-3-Inch-Laptop/dp/B002C746FE/ref=pd_cp_pc_1

The HDD version is around 800 among computers, the SDD version is 172 among computers and 65 among laptops but that fluctuates a lot.

In comparison, the Macbook Pro 13" is No 1 among laptops and also No 1 among all computers.

That may explain why they did take the Core Duo again even though it has a production stop end of the year, they get the volume.

I also believe that the Air is at this point not that bad of a machine when chosen with SDD. It feels snappy, in fact I tried it out in the Apple Store it launches apps quicker then the new 15" pro.

If they could use internal graphics together with a video accelerating chip, that could make it a killer product for the traveling professional.

The form factor and light weight of the MBA make my mouth water. That's the reason I want one if it gets a significant update, although I recently bought an iPad. Even in its present iteration, the MBA is a real computer, capable of doing real work. The iPad, alas, fails to deliver, particularly in the document creation area.

Unfortunately, the current MBA, although a real computer, lacks the horsepower to handle resource intensive apps, such as VMware Fusion running Windows in a virtual machine. All of us who require a lot of resources to be available on our laptops, are just going to have to wait and see if the upgraded MBA will work for us -- if there even is an upgraded MBA. Sorry, that was cynical of me but it's hard to dismiss the possibility that Apple could quietly let the MBA quietly die on the vine. For the moment though, I an going to get obsessed and stay obsessed about a new, more powerful, MBA.:)
