I had QuarkXpress running just fine and then yesterday when I tried to launch the program I got this message:

"The application has unexpected quit"

The program will not launch. So I trashed everything and used my Quark 6.0 CD to re-install. Worked fine - then updated the software to 6.1, now when I try to launch the program I get the same message.

Here's the really wierd part: I switched over to another user and Quark launched fine. I also noticed that when loading Quark on the other user it showed my name under "Personalized" - it doesn't do this when trying to launch under my screen name.

Any suggestions?

Since we are talkin quark- I just updated to 6.0, haven't done 6.1 yet, but anyway I made a project last night and today when I reopened it and changed something and went to save it said "This project is l ocked. Changes cannot be saved [314]"

What is up. I tried going to "get info" and the box there is not checked that reads "locked".

Is there something in quark that locks it? I looked in prefs and help and found nothing except for layers being locked.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

great! thats the same with most programs, a lot of startup crashes are caused by the preferences. it tends to happen after a forced restart (holding power button for 5 secs).

If you go to save it and it says you can't because it is locked, try going to the finder and duplicating the file and changing/shortening the name, and using that file. Seem to remember this working, but that could have been Flash. It's been a while.

Well, it worked the first time - now it's doing the same thing again, although now I will not startup after I trash the preferences.

kinda got me stumped with that one.... have you repaired permissions? quark 5/6 has always been a bit flaky with me, and quark 6.5 dont even go their! took me far to many hours to fix it and go back to quark 6.1

maybe somebody else will have another suggestion
