Hi

Just about to order my first imac and decided on the quad core i5 but could do with a little advice, i will be using mainly to do very basic HD video editing of home movies etc and photoshop work.

I've got a little extra in the budget and could afford to upgrade one of the components and wondered which option out of upgrading the processor to the i7 or upgrading the RAM (4x2) would bring the best benefits for what I'll be using it for.

Any help would be appreciated.

Upgrade the CPU, as you can upgrade the RAM later and 4GB should be enough at first.

At Christmas they usually have specials on RAM that Mac users can take advantage of.

Those specials on CPUs just make us cry, since we can just sit there and drool at the shiny new CPU for dirt cheap. :(
