This is not going to end well I'm afraid!

Can Apple not spend a couple bucks extra on the quality control for their displays and make sure they are perfect? There always seems to be issues.

I definitely see this from your pics. This is not good. It seems like there is always a problem with the first batch of Apple anything.

Apparently the limited number of units available is precisely because the yield rate on these screens is so low.

Yeah, that's definitely not something you have to search for to notice. Good luck with your replacement. I hope I don't end up in that boat with you. I went through 5-10 (I lost count) replacements of the iMac because of their garbage screen quality, and finally ended up just giving up and living with it. The by-product of that though is I'll never buy another computer from Apple again.

Now that you pointed it out I do see it at the bottom right of both my phones. Had I not read this thread I never would have noticed it.

I feel the OP's pain.
I had a problem with the first 3g I got. Had it sent to me by Apple via Fedex. That's why I decided that, this time, I wanted to pre-order & pick up at an Apple Store even if it means standing in line for a while. I want to see the phone BEFORE I leave the place so that if there is a defect, I can get them to give me a different phone.
That's the only advantage I can think of to waiting in line, but to me a worthwhile advantage.

I thinK Apple is going to call this normal. Why are there so many problems with screens in Apples products? I've still yet to see an iPad without dust or dead pixels on the screen. Ugh!

I've yet to see an iPad with dust or dead pixels. But then again, I've only seen my own. And it has none. Trust me, I'd return it immediately if it did.

Everyone needs to quit being divas and calm down. Be happy your phone works and deal with it until Apple gets a large chunk of iPhones in stock. I'm sure it will be a breeze to get a replacement.

Damn now I'm terrified to get my iPhone :p. If I recall, the yellow-tint issue had a similar effect on people on the forums. You've also got to remember that when people have problems with a device they'll come on here to post about it or find topics like this and join others who have the same problem. Those people who have perfectly fine iPhone 4's with no yellow spots probably aren't even on the forums right now...... They're probably busy enjoying their new iPhones lolz

true, HOWEVER you should be able to buy a product without flaws. Simple as that. I don't think anyone is being a "diva" saying that it "blows" getting a product that has issues.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't find it diva-ish at all to expect something to be perfect out of box when I kick out that much money for it.

Suddenly I'm glad I'm one of the reservers so I can hopefully make sure I get a good one before I leave the store tomorrow morning.

The apologists are coming! The apologists are coming!

You are NOT a diva for expecting your 400-600 dollar phone to be perfect out of the box. That's actually not asking a lot.
