Just tried this after reading your post, how sneaky of them. Everything remains the same size except the main iPad mini image - it literally gets larger as the window enlarges!





Anyone with smaller screens, you should be able to see how the iPad in the top image is smaller than the one in the second; everything else remains the same size.

Personally I think the Judge has acted out of bound on this. Forcing a Public apology... even after the slight cringeworthy 'Cool' comment. It's more the sort thing of a Tabloid has to do when it has made up stuff about a celeb.

The judge himself appears to be ok - having thown out the ACS:Law Case where they were send out scare letters to little old ladies to make them pay money for downloading Hardcroe german porn. Now they were scum of the earth and glad they had to shut down.

Yeah, I see their rebellious responses to the court as proof there's still people that Think Different at Apple who can/did publicly mock the judge's decision in a somewhat legal way.

Not everyone thinks that judges, courts, or government laws should always be followed or feared.

Just because the masses are now using Apple products doesn't mean they are like Big Brother.
I remember Apple's roots and attitude from the beginning.

Barely any difference, but the UK site definitely resizes the images, and aligns the four images/links along the bottom so you can't see anything underneath them without scrolling.

Is it OK if Samsung take that approach in the US then?

Courts shouldn't be feared (unless you've done something wrong) but its generally a good idea to follow what they tell you to do, as Apple found out after their original statement.

If Samsung truly felt the ruling was unfair or incorrect, AND the judge was silly enough to rule they must apologize, but not make that ruling very specific, then yes, by all means they should come up with creative ways to mock the court.

But that would mean Samsung would have to be creative on their own.

I see apple back in court on this one, they were told to prominently display it, not hide it off the bottom of the screen...

and they have already p***ed the judge of once, if he feels that apple are now just making him look small, he will call them back in and demand that its put as a banner prominently on all EU Apple pages.

If i was apple i would have complied with the spirit and word of the judgement, not just the loopholes you think your exploiting to turn it into a marketing tool, Judges, especially UK ones, have NO sense of humor, and this will be seen as a slight against the judge directly, he will respond.

Apple, your a patent troll (and, fanboys, they are a patent troll company, but so nowadays are most large companies), the UK judge ruled against your trolling, so, live with it, move on, and comply with what they want, don't try and turn it into marketing spin, or hide it, just do what they request, and get it over with,

Perhaps if Apple paid their UK taxes, I'd have a little more sympathy for them, but as it happens, they screw us in the UK via higher product prices and then don't pay their share of tax either.

There's nothing 'admirably rebellious' about Apple's behaviour, it's just arrogance and greed.

The landscape pics are not a good indicator of what's going on, as it doesn't just "resize" as some people are saying - it physically re-arranges to keep the preferred content filling the screen.

If the judge had ordered them to apologise, I might agree with you. But he didn't. He ordered them to publish the fact that Samsung didn't infringe on their registered design.

Read one of the numerous threads that has already gone over this countless times.

What are your browser screens incapable of scrolling ?

All I know is that if I was the judge, and Apple was still playing these games after being called out once, I would be pissed.

I would literally hand them a web page in 48 point font with designated language along the lines of "SAMSUNG DID NOT COPY US AND WE SUED THEM WRONGLY" and say, welcome to your new homepage for the next year. I'd probably put it in hot fuchsia text on a black star background with a blink tag just to piss them off. Then I would fine them for contempt.

Judges don't like it when you try and skirt the spirit of their rulings.

This is NOT necessarily true. The Apple website has been doing this for a while now and even does it on the apple.com/iPhone page.

Think abut it, from Marketing it makes perfect sense to have the adverts showing at all time and all resolutions. It shows the lower adverts even on the iPhone so makes perfect sense. It's not to hide a statement.

And I believe this actually conforms to the courts order.

This changes EVERYTHING.

The new statement is magical.

No one has ever made this statement before.

The new statement is much thinner than the original statement.

It's the thinnest website apology Apple has made. Ever.

The post-Jobs era is officially in high gear. I don't like what is happening with Apple and not sure I like where the company is headed. That stability that Jobs brought is gone.

Exactly what I would do... stupid power move in part of the judge. I bet he loves looking at himself in the mirror and saying "I just made the biggest corporation in the world do whatever I said. Go me..."
