A friend of mine and several others had similar problems with the 5s after a while. They were all told, that they were not supposed to keep the iPhone in their pockets. Hilarious, but true.

The Lightning port failed on my 5S and the genius told me I shouldn't keep it in my pocket because the humidity in there made the connectors corrode.

On a similar note: I went out last night and didn't know where to store my iPhone 6 securely while partying, so I parked my car on it (after all, I thought it would be safe under a tire). Now it has tire pressure marks on the back. Do you think Apple will replace it?

Helloooooooo?!?! Common sense anyone?!?!

Common sense would have rethought that post ;)

I don't even understand how a phone can be physically bent like this. I get that's it thin but it would still take a serious amount of pressure to bend the phone.

A lot of people are being harsh on the OP as if he's an idiot for putting his phone in his pants pocket.

Im surprised it bent and I'm sure apple will replace the phone. Everyone i know carries their phone in their pants pocket.

The pants are not tight, as they are suit pants, they give in and are not as rigid as a tight jeans. I did not feel the phone while sitting down, if I had felt any pressure, I would have taken it out.

I have had every iPhone except for the 3GS, and this has never been an issue. I never use a case and when I sell them after year they are always in great condition.

Of course I will return it, I just wanted to check if anyone else has the same issue.

Keep us unto date with how you get on with Apple.

I'm interested to know how they will handle this, hopefully they will replace it for you.

Do you people really think you can put these in your pants pocket and not bend
it? C'mon a little common sense, Please!

I'm sure Apple will get the blame and be asked to replace it......amazing.....*face palm*

Front pocket…hell yes I don't expect it to bend.

Exactly, don't know why people are making it like if it was he's fault lol when did apple mentioned that you shouldn't keep your phone in your pocket for extended period of time ?

Whats even more weird is how not long ago everyone trashed all threads involving people with bent iPhone 5/5s and now its normal and your the one to blame because you kept it in your pocket.

OMG he put his phone in his front pocket like MILLIONS of others do each and every day. The horror!

My friends did the same thing. Put it in his front pocket and it was like this when he took it out after getting in the car.

I was told by a lot of fan boys that the 5.5" would not fit into pants pockets and that's why the phone will never exist.

You may as well not text on it either, because it's too big for that too.

Fan boys know better than anybody because they had to be the first to own one.

Seriously though..... That's some serious bend! I'd freak!

I'm not trashing the OP at all... I carry my caseless phones in my front pocket and never expect them to bend. And ive never had one bend. That's why I asked about an open bar... Things tend to break when alcohol is involved....especially free, unlimited alcohol. Haha

This could only get worse.

In before a mass recall and a huge embarrassment for Apple. Although I doubt that'll happen, if people complain enough they may provide free hard cases...

I received my iPhone 6 Plus 64GB spacegray at about 3pm on Friday and set it up, but haven't worn it out that day, so it wasn't in my pocket.

Yesterday, I left at 10am with the iPhone in my left front pocket of my suit pants. I drove 4 hours to a wedding, which also involved a lot of sitting during dinner etc but also 2-3 hours of dancing. I left at 2m and went to bed, driving home 4 hours back.

So in total, the 6 Plus was about 18 hours in my pocket while sitting mostly.

As I lay it on the coffee table and sat down on the couch to relax from the drive (yes, sitting again ), I saw the reflection of the window in the iPhones slightly distorted. Now I lay it flat with the display side on the table, take a look.

Maybe at 5.5" it is too thin?

Apple really needs to consider titanium. The cost will go up quite a bit but if they want thin, light, & strong then there is really no choice. If they want thin, not so light, & strong without the cost adder then it's back to stainless.

Definitely get it exchanged at an Apple Store. I had a similar issue (yet more severe) with my rMini and got a lot of crap for it on these very forums (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1685709/) claiming it was my fault. Took it to Apple and although they couldn't pinpoint exactly what was the cause, they replaced it hassle free.

I don't know if a regular case would help the situation. Maybe even cover it up.

No... You can place the iPhone 5, 5S, the 6, place it on the edge of a table and easily bend it using pressure... Just not sharp pressure, should be added gradually. Lo and behold you can bend it slightly to where its clearly uneven. Then you can even bend it back. I've personally done this. It doesn't take much pressure. Less and less now that it's even thinner than the 5S.

Apologies, missed the front pocket part.

However, I put my iPhone(s) (past and present) in my front pockets as well, including some 5's and never had an issue. I don't think that Apple can be blamed and this being a design flaw. Yes, people have the habit of putting their phones into their front and back pockets, but with phones getting thinner and lighter (ie less material used on the body) I think users have to compromise if they want a masterpiece of industrial design like the 6 / 6 Plus or go with another manufacturer who produces something more durable.
