I don't think it's a Hackintosh... it says:

Motherboard - Apple Inc. Mac-F22589C8
BIOS - Apple Inc. MBP61.88Z.004C.B00.1001251657

I was configuring my ThinkPad when I found it.

EDIT: zorahk just said that.

Okay, I'll bite: what is the MacBook Pro 6,1? Is that the currently shipping model? Or is this a sneak peek at some new version?

6,1 (and 6,2) are the semi-confirmed successors to the current laptop line. This is the first time we've seen actual stats of the laptop(s).

Judging by the fact it's got an i7, I assume that 6,1 is a 17" or comparatively larger sized of the laptop family.

Mac OS X 10.6.2 (Build 10C3067)

Sorry guys, not happening.

(I'm probably wrong, I forgot that they do indeed use 4 digits in the suffix for new hardware)

Thank you most kindly, sirs and/or madams.

I think I want one. {lust}

This is potentially good news. Two things get me excited about this - the first is that it's using a Core i7-620M instead of the Core i5. The second is that this is a 32-bit geekbench score and from what I've seen of the Geekbench scores on the MacPro 5,2 the 64-bit score are ~8% higher.

Unless someone went through the trouble faking all the information (easy to do with a hack), looks like the real deal.

Not necessarily, The designations aren't a reliable gauge of the laptop's size. For instance, while 5,2 is the current 17"; 4,1 was the 17" the generation before.

So that means this is very possible?

15" i7-620M = $2300 - $2600.

I wouldn't want an i7 in my MacBook; currently they only work when tethered to a power outlet, unless you're fine with a 1 hour battery life. (e.g. there is no mobile version of the i7 yet)

1) Who would currently have a new MBP? Seems like only someone in Cupertino
2) Why would they do a test on this site where people would find it?
