Add the virtual memory column to activity monitor so we can see which app it is. I have a feeling it's being used by vmware, but I can't be sure.
 
Virtual memory is like fake memory. It's not really there. Page outs and Swap is memory that is put on the hard drive. It's real.
 
Agreed with the other poster, you need more information in activity monitor to determine what's going on.

I'd not be terribly worried about it, as OSX handles memory very well. From what I do see, I'm going to say vmware, iTunes and possibly chrome are chewing up a fair amount of resources.

I can't find that much Virtual Memory that it adds up to 185 GB, but as I don't have a problem with that right now, I don't really care, I just posted the screenshot to show that I have the same "issue".
I would like to have faster RAM though and more.
