Looking for some help. I'm in the process of selling my Mac Mini and posted an advert on Gumtree.

I received interest pretty quickly to which I replied directly to a gmail address. I then received this...

It sounds fair enough but I'm always apprehensive when some provides so much detailed information about Paypal. I emailed back to try and get some more information but the email bounced back from the original gmail account.

Simple question...is this a scam?

It sounds fishy to me - the blurb about PayPal and why you should use it sounds off. I'm always wary of PayPal as well, as they always side with the buyer in any disputes - it could well be that you'll get the money, but will then be victim to a bait and switch, or an all-out lie.

I always do in-person sales on Gumtree. Sold my old Mac Pro that way, and both myself and the buyer were happy.

I usually go by the thought process that if you have to ask if this is a scam, then it is.

I just live by the words of Admiral Ackbar.
