Macs aren't locked down though. You sound misinformed and confused.

What these posters are pointing out is that there's already a store where any Mac app can be submitted. It's called the Internet. And there are specific sites like MacUpdate providing one-stop shopping.
 
there is no jailbreak. just a place to get extensions and apps not allowed in the app store in a nice clean app with some app store advantages.

I suppose this will be a Mac App Store, minus Apple's restrictions (no demos, no trials, no system modifications, etc.).

I do think that the Internet is currently a better solution, but we shall see how far Cydia goes.....
 
Why is it going to be awesome? Its bringing nothing that cannot be done now.

This will be as awesome as all the fanfair people on MRs granted the introduction of the Mac App Store.

Both completely unwarranted.
