Selling MBP 2011 for 2012?

Hi, not too sure if this is in the right section sorry if it isn't.
Just wondering when is the best time to sell my 2011 MBP and get the most value out of it. I was thinking now would be a good time as there are many rumors the new MBP would be coming April - June. Also what would be a reasonable price for it (MBP 2011 13 inch, i5, 100gb ssd, 8gb ram, very good condition). Any help will be greatly appreciated :)
 
I agree with you now is probably best. Once the new models come out prices on current models will drop. Check eBay for recently completed auctions on your model to get an idea on what to expect for a sale price.
 
Thanks for the advice found out a similar model was sold for $1150 however it had a 240gb ssd not 120gb. Will put a starting bid of $900 and see how it goes.
 
Basing price off of the Apple refurbs is a good way to go, and I agree now is the time to sell.

Given you have a SSD and 8GB, that price sounds pretty reasonable. You may want to start at $850. If you have AppleCare, then you may want to start at $950.
 
Base refurb 13" MBP's from the Apple store were $930 last I checked. So that includes a year warranty. Knock off about $10 a month and that puts it right around $800 for an out of warranty 13" early 2011 MBP. I put Apple care on my current machine and have it sold for $1050. Covered through March 2014.
 
The older it gets and the closer to the release of the 2012 MBPs will decrease the worth of your MBP. So the sooner you sell it, you'll get the most $$.

sell now, an '11 will be so terribly obsolete, unfashionable, and utterly worthless any day now :eek::eek::eek: :rolleyes:
 
Just sold the macbook for $1000 not including fees from ebay and paypal. The fees were quite devastating equating to more then $100 :(. Maybe it wasnt such a good idea to sell it on ebay.

That's why I never sell anything worth more than a few hundred on eBay. I just sold my MBP 13 on craigslist recently for $960. Though I bought a current refurb MBA instead of waiting on a refresh.

Bad idea. Craigslist is probably better
 
I avoid ebay now, the fees, prospect of getting scammed. Nope, I'd rather deal with Craigslist. That way I can deal with cash only and a face to face transaction.

Each has is positives and negatives. Craigslist has its share of scammers also. You are definitely paying for the convenience of eBay.
