I have been researching SSD drives and came across this:
http://thessdreview.com/ssd-guides/beginners-guide/the-ssd-manufacturers-bluff/
It shows how for his usage the "fastest" SSD drive might not be the best option.
I do web development: Fireworks, Photoshop, many browsers/tabs, Espresso, Transmit, Tower, MAMP, all running at once. I don't use many large files in PS or FW (i.e. several GB). However from time to time I do edit HD video. SOmetimes simple stuff shot on my iPhone. Other times 1080i 10bit video from our HVX200 (very rare however, we have a Mac Pro for that).
I'm looking for a tool like CrystalDisk for the Mac. Something that will tell me what % of my usage is 4/512K R/W. Any such tool?
If anyone has similar usage and done research to find what drives work best for this kind of scenario I'd be interested. I'm leaning toward the Crucial/Samsungs/IBM. The drives from OWC don't seem to fare well in the tests and are more expensive. OCZ and others seem to have firmware or reliability issues in the near past, not thrilled about that.
I'd be happy with a few tools to do my own research, but if anyone has any suggestions I'm open to that as well.
