Is 8gb enough for me?

I know this question has been previously asked, but im planning to buy macbook pro 15'. I might be wait until Christmas for prices down and chose maybe one refurb, but im confused about 8gb or 16gb ram i should buy. Usually im on the internet and some times edit some pictures on photoshop, rarely i open sony vegas pro and make some videos (normal, like lyrics) and often i use adobe audition. I know its best to get 16gb ram, but with 8gb its cheaper. I would like to keep the laptop like more than 3/4 years

The other option is to buy the dell xps 15 haswell with 16gb ram, Please help
 
I'd say 8GB is more then enough for you now, and its a good amount for future proofing for the next few years as you posted.
 
thanks but should i go with the 2012 or 2013 model?
 
8gb should be fine. I would go with the 2013 because of extended battery life.
 
Newer models are always recommended because their life is longer and will be supported longer. Also, specs are better as there are more advancements in technology every year!
 
ive heard that the newest models are with iris pro and this is not really good for the video rendering

Sure, the 750M can be marginally faster for some workflows. But do you really do video rendering often enough to benefit from the few seconds that you will be saving?

If you go for the 2.0/8/256 configuration, you only get the Iris Pro.

If you go for the 2.3/16/512 or higher configuration, you get the 750M.

Iris Pro is faster in OpenCL, but NVIDIA is faster in gaming and CUDA-accelerated software.

Might as well as get the 2.3/16/512/750M model. This is a really powerful machine and can future-proof you for quite some time.
