I am a new first time, iPad Air owner.... for about 3 weeks now I guess. The thing is just so darn beautiful that every night when I'm done with it I make sure to clean it well with a lens/electronic cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Does anyone else do this? Am I just crazy? Should I just chill?

I don't really clean my iPad, unless the screen is pretty messed up (from my kids using it). I hardly clean the camera lens, but then I don't use the iPad to take pictures either.

I wipe my screen down daily but that's about it. You do whatever you need to. Nothing wrong with taking care of your device like that!

I don't ever use the camera either..... Well I've done some FaceTime but thats about it. And yea I don't scrub it down or anything lol...Just remove gresse from finger prints and what not. Glad I'm not alone.

What about when you take your iPad somewhere? Or do you even take it outside?

You are being too OCD, and maybe even damaging your iPad.

You shouldnt be using any screen cleaning products on the screen, it can remove the oleophobic coating.

From the Apple Website:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3226#ipads

Handle your iPad with care to maintain its appearance. If you are concerned about scratching or abrasion, you can use one of the many cases sold separately. To clean iPad, unplug all cables and turn off iPad (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, and then slide the onscreen slider). Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don't use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia, abrasives, or cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide to clean iPad. iPad has an oleophobic coating on the screen; simply wipe iPad's screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands. The ability of this coating to repel oil will diminish over time with normal usage, and rubbing the screen with an abrasive material will further diminish its effect and may scratch your screen.

You will get over it sooner or later. You do not really need any cleaner unless just a mfiber cloth will not remove the prints.

Enjoy your iPad and just relax!:apple:

I do, but I only clean it with a LINT FREE microfiber cloth not other products. It usually takes me about 20 seconds to clean the screen and I don't even see a fingerprint after those 20 seconds.
Edit: mostly all microfiber cloths are lint free

I didn't even think about the cleaner doing away with the coating, thanks for bringing that up. I guess I'll just use the microfiber cloth

By doing exactly what it is you are doing you are then able to chill.
Not wiping down your iPad would cause anxiety.

That is, if you truly have OCD.

You should also make sure to wash your hands three times and verify the bathroom light is off six times before handling your iPad.

Not crazy. I kept my iPad pretty spotless the first few weeks after I got it - but never used anything but the cleaning cloth that came with my camera lens. When the screen got really grubby, slightly dampened the cloth with water. I would even use a lint roller on the inside of the smart cover.

Time passed and now I just clean the screen only when it really needs it. But my iPad is still as beautiful as it was the day I opened the box.

I use these microfiber pads from Targus. They work great. :)

To the OP, you are not alone. I am very OCD about wiping down my iPhone and iPad after I'm done using it. Usually I'll wipe my phone on my shirt sleeve, but each night before I go to bed, I clean it with a microfiber cloth.

I go full nerd too whenever I have a brand new device. Enjoy it while it lasts :D

I bought a Zagg HD screen protector and have never needed to clean the iPad screen since I got it. It's been 7 months now.
