I own a lot of phones. My favorite remains the Moto X. It's simply the best, out of the box, all around best phone on the market.

Then if you are in a Z3 country, the Z3 would be a good option, as it costs less than half a Z30.

If you do a lot of email, PDF, Excel, Word docs etc., the Note phones are true beasts for productivity. My Note 2 often makes my job a whole lot easier. If the large size works for you of course... The Note 4 is coming out soon.

I forgot about the note 4 I will look into it when it comes out I am not in any rush I have a bb q10 that I am using now and it's ok

Main phone Samsung Galaxy S5
Works phone Motorola Moto X
Backup Nokia 520

The Moto G would make another perfect 2nd phone aswell.

If you can import and get one near retail price of under $250 -

Xiaomi Mi3 - $240
Xiaomi Redmi Note - $150
Xiaomi Redmi 1S - $150

People might say to never trust the Chinese brands. Almost everything is made in China nowadays including iPhones. Sony used to have PlayStations "Made in Japan" but not anymore. China has surpassed Japan and South Korea economically. Samsung's growth rate is slowing down in China because the local brands improved.
At $240 for flagship specs, that is an unbeatable price for the Mi3. And it is the fastest in the market as of today . Even by next year, most flagships during the last two years will still cost more than the Mi3 from 2013. Samsung Galaxy S4 would probably cost $350 and that is second hand. And $150 for a octa-core phone like a Redmi Note with 3200 mAH battery is unheard of in most markets. Their MiPad sold like 50,000 in four minutes. A tablet with a 2k screen and 6700 mAH battery at $240.

Moto E
Moto G
Moto X
BlackBerry Z10
OnePlus One
Nexus 5
Asus Fonepad 7
Xperia M

All of the above are ripoffs compared to Mi phones with far better specs and even cameras.

You might say that of the Android phones, but not of the BlackBerry's which have their own superior OS made in Canada.

In a similar sense, Macs would be a ripoff compared to PCs.

A Lumia 520 is going for only $59.00(no contract), since I doubt you want your second phone to be large or expensive.

But OP does seem to want a large flagship phone.........

I have a hard time reading with out glasses so I guess bigger screen also. The is would live the best one.

how about the samsung s5 or the htc m8 which one.

My recommendation is Nexus 5. Largish 5" screen and simple, pure Android (so no quirks that some find annoying with manufacturer skins). It's not quite flagship level (mainly down to relatively weak camera and battery) but since you'll have your personal iPhone with you that may not be an issue.

If you want better battery life and camera on a 5" phone look at Galaxy S5, HTC One (M8), and LG G3. They're all good. I think for most people the main significant difference between these is the style of the phone and the different manufacturer skins - you'll just have to go in store and try them out.

If you want to consider Windows Phone look at the 5" Nokia Lumia Icon/930.

If you want bigger screen than 5" look at Galaxy Note for Android, and Lumia 1320 or 1520 for Windows Phone.

I have no experience with Blackberry so can't comment on those.

For a second phone I would second the Moto G suggestions. Hard to get better value than that.
