I actually have 2 cases for mine but took it off today. It feels lighter and is much prettier took look at.

Do people without a case get a lot of scratches dings and dents?

I don't move my Macbook around much these days.

EDIT: I got both my cases from Amazon- 1 is a Kuzy and the other is an iPearl

Not a case, no. A sleeve is useful though. I use mine as a pad underneath my Mac to protect the bottom from scratches. Lesson learned after the first few weeks of college ;)

I never use a case, and so far in all the years of usage, my MBPs look fine.

I use one. But I use my rMBP a lot. Lots of walking around with it especially at work. Additional weight and thickness are negligible.

Wow, that looks really nice - old school :D

What kind of case is that, I could be tempted to get one of those

I have to wonder where and how folks are carrying their rMBPs that the rMBPs need full body armor. If a good neoprene sleeve inside a backpack, briefcase, camera bag, or messenger is not enough.......rethink the trip. ;)

I didn't use a case for my old macbook since it was big and tanky. But the new retina MacBooks feel so frail in comparison that I'm def planning on using a sleeve/case

I use a Speck case. Main reason is the resale factor of it'll look a lot newer than if it hadn't been kept in a case.
