5C to be entry-level iPhone

UK carrier 3 has no 16gb iPhone 5Cs in stock. Just 8gb phones.

A sign that the 5C will be kept as the entry-level phone when the next iPhone is launched?

I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. Vodafone have only stocked 8GB for a while and a lot of other retailers only seem to have 16GB at most, now.
 
Would be a big range if there are two or more 6s, plus the 5s and the 5c.

I think so.
My guess is
5C 8GB 0$
5S 16GB 99$
6 4.7'' starting at 199$ hopefully with 32GB
 
I think that's a logical assumption. I can see the 5c becoming the low end device once the 6 hits the streets.

If so... What will the 5S 32GB be priced? $199 the same as the 6 4.7 32GB? That would seem silly.

There will still be stock around, whether they keep manufacturing them for months into the future.

I think they'll keep the 16GB only.
The bottom line is that I expect next iPhone to double the storage keeping the same price. Since iPhone has a high price they ought to move to 32GB standard.

I don't believe we'll see the 5.5 model this year, maybe they'll release it september 2015.
 
I'm sure this will be the case, as the 4S will be getting retired as of the day of Apple's special event.

It will be:

iPhone 5C - 8GB only - free on contract.

iPhone 5S - $99/16GB or $199/32GB on contract.

iPhone 6 - $199/$299/$399 for 16/32/64 on contract.

This way, Apple still only has 2 sizes of iPhones being actively sold at once. And I do not believe that they will stop offering 16GB variety as that is their most popular model of iPhone. The majority of casual users find the $199 price point attractive and are not necessarily willing to pony up $300+ for a phone. I say this based on everybody who I work with and who I know that have iPhones. I am actually the only one I know who has higher capacity.

But, to me, this is the lineup that makes the most sense. Only part that is iffy is whether they will continue to offer the 5S in 32GB. I say they may, because those are the price points and capacities of the 5C right now. I can see the 5S sliding into that slot.

I'm thinking the same thing. There are still many customers out there who don't have a need for a phone with a larger screen. Having a smaller and larger screened iPhone will allow Apple to satisfy everyone's needs.
 
Yeah. Considering the A6 processor, 1G RAM, and plastic materials, 5c should be a phone to popularize iOS under a very cheap price.

But it's an iPhone and Apple controls the price strictly, unlocked 5c will still be expensive than you think.
 
Hopefully, this is what we'll see (obviously all on contract):

$0 - 8GB iPhone 5c
$99 - 16GB iPhone 5s
$199 - 32GB iPhone 6
$299 - 64GB iPhone 6, 32GB iPhone 6L
$399 - 64GB iPhone 6L

That would be ideal.

Old iPhones are generally only sold at their lowest capacity after a new iPhone is introduced.
 
It would follow the previous pattern. The 4s was dropped to 8GB when the 5c came out and as they started with 8GB 5c in February/March, it's logical to keep it. I do think 8GB should be killed though.

The 4s will be dropped in September and receive iOS8, so users get a year of support before no more updates (as they did with 3gs and iOS 6 and 4 and iOS7.)
 
I would agree with this, I work for a phone retailer in the UK and the 32GB 5C has reduced stock over the last month or so. Not sure if the 5S will stick around as well though with the two new iPhone models?
 
I can apparently upgrade from today according to O2 and they offered me a 32GB iPhone 5C with no upfront cost for £28p/m. Errrrr no I'll wait for the 6 as the 5C is pretty much like my iPhone 5 I have now anyway!

I'm not surprised to see it take the place of entry level iPhone as the tech is now 2 years old.

I am really. Really. Hoping they do this with the storage. I was thinking about this idea awhile back, and everyone argues "Why would Apple get rid of 16GB if it sells the best!?" It's only because of the price, nothing else. Besides, most people I talk to who have iPhones say that they don't have enough space on there. Anyway, this would turn 32GB into the best selling storage option, and possibly even win over a few Android customers who need that extra space with expandable storage and all, but don't want to pay so much for it.

I think it might, in 16GB only, while the 5c only comes in 8GB once the current stock of 16GB clears. If they kill the 5s they are essentially selling brand new phones and a 2 year old phone. Not selling something a year old seems odd to me.

The rumoured 4.7 could always have 5s internals, though, forcing people to shell out for the 5.5 (again, rumoured) if they want the latest and greatest.

What's the point of calling the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 an iPhone 6 if nothing was changed other than screen size? What's the point of calling the 5.5 inch iPhone 6 an iPhone 6 when it is an entire generation ahead of the other iPhone 6? I see no logic in that "rumor" you are speaking of.
