Hey guys,

I've been doing backup for the last 12 hours and only 57 gigs have been copied into the external hard drive.

Its my first backup on the disk.

Any ideas why is ing very slow?

Could it be that Time Machine (or some Western Digital software on the backup drive) encrypts the backup? That could be a reason why the backup process is slow.

I personally would delete any software that comes with any external hard drive that I want to use for backups - I would only use Time Machine (and for a second backup, if that is wanted, Carbon Copy Cloner). I would also not encrypt my backups.

From the looks of it, you're using Yosemite, which I may have heard has Time Machine issues. My recommendation is to use different software if TM is not working as you expect it too.
