My contract is due to expire on 8th September, one day before the supposed announcement of the iphone6.

I'm looking at getting an iphone as my next contract but I have a few questions regarding price.

Is it likely that the iphone6 will have similar contract prices as the 5s currently, or will it be more expensive, or will it be the same as the 5s currently and the 5s will become cheaper?

I know people probably aren't sure for certain, but I was wondering if people can remember what happened with previous iphone releases?

P.S I'm a UK customer

Many thanks

The 4.7 version of the iPhone 6 will probably be at the same price point, but the I believe there's an expectation that the 5.5" version is to be pricier.

if 4.7 is the same price as the current 5s, will that mean a price drop for the 5s?

Probably.............I think contract deals have already fallen in price to be honest. my colleague and her husband recently 'upgraded' to 5c and 5s and got great deals (low price/free handsets and lots of data, minutes etc).

Yes, probably. They will drop the 4s, the 5c will be the new 0$ phone and the 5s will be at 99$. Of course there are other possibilities but I think that's the most likely.

I think WalMart is already selling the 5S for $49. The 5C is $0.
As for Apple pricing, I think you are spot on.

I'm also a UK customer, i tend to buy my phones outright from Apple. I'm hoping that the iPhone 6 doesn't go any higher than £800 for the 5.5" (if indeed there is a 5.5") with all the reports going around, and a little common sense, i think the iPhone 6 will be higher priced, however it may be the 5.5" that gets slapped with the higher price, maybe a £100-£150 increase.

I think the 5s will be discontinued like the 5 for the same reasoning as the 5. The 5c may see it's internals beefed slightly and/or a price drop to really be the model for the lower-mid market.

I don't think so, reason is the 5 and 5s looked almost same visually, whereas in the case of 5s and 6, they have different designs as well as different screen sizes.

This goes beyond aesthetic design. Selling the premium model at discounted prices takes a hit on margins. The 5C used cheaper materials with the same discount given to previous gen. models to maximize the margin.

Selling the 5s, with TouchID, at a lower price point wouldn't be too economical. I'd bet that Apple will sweeten the deal of the 5c and get rid of the 5s.

I agree. Making a 5CS with TouchID and maybe A7 CPU is very feasible, while dropping the 5S.

I would expect the 5s to only come in 16GB has a cheap iPhone.
Not sure what to expect with the 5c tho unless they come out with a 6c but doubtful with no parts leak.

Price of the 6 may go up slightly, there was a slight rise going from 4s to 5 but not sure 5 to 5s tho.

If previous years are anything to go by then the 4S will be dropped, the 5S may become the cheaper phone within the 5C body. My only concern is the price of the iPhone 6, will it mean the 4.7" is £100 more expensive and the 5.5" is £150-£200 more expensive?

Would probably expect a slight rise of the 4.7" but not has much as £100.
Maybe they will keep the 4.7" at £550 and 6 at £600+
Here's hoping anyway

I think what's made it more confusing is the reports of only the "premium" iPhone 6 having sapphire display, i can't see it being reserved just for the 64GB models, I'm thinking it might be for the 5.5" only and the 4.7" will have the same Gorilla Glass. Also reports of a 128GB model.
