I'm wondering if Apple will sell refurbished 2012's in the near future? Are they known for selling refurbished obsolete models?

You can check refurb.me to see what models have appeared on the refurb store and how recently. It appears they had one 5 days ago.

Thanks. I'm already signed up on Refurb.me but wanted to see if I should try to find a new 2012 now or wait for a refurbished (if they'll even show up).

As already stated, they have already appeared on the Apple refurb store, as recently as 5 days ago.

Just like any discontinued Mac, they should show up from time to time. You can always buy a new one now and return it within 14 days if no more refurbs show up.

There will be plenty show up in batches for a while. Their probably letting the 2014 get in stores and selling before they replenish the site.

Sign up for referb.me and jump when they show up because they won't last long.

They'll pop in, they usually do, and like prior times. They'll disappear very quickly, perhaps more so, given the lack luster specs of the new mini

I called my local Apple store in the UK and they said they'd sent all of their 2012 models back to the main warehouse.

Has anyone gone into a Apple store in the UK and been able to find a 2012 model?

Refurbished Mac mini 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, 4GB memory
, Dual 1TB hard drives with OS X Server @ £619 (£110 off, 15% saving)

Refurbished Mac mini 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7. 16GB memory, 256gb SSD, with OS X Server @ £1159 (£50 off, 9% saving)

I skipped on both. I can pickup a 2.3Ghz i7 online and buy a 256gb SSD and 16GB RAM kit for £765.86. Very close to pulling trigger, but ideally I want to get hold of a 2.6Ghz (minus SSD/16GB RAM at Apple prices) and upgrade myself. Either that, or get a refurb 2.3Ghz from Apple which should come in cheaper than the £579.99 for the new one online.

Several U.S. stores I called said they had boxed up all 2012 MMs and sent them back to Apple. They said there is no longer a "POA" number so they can no longer be sold even if stores still have physical units in the back.

Just bought one yesterday at Apple Tampa international plaza, you may have to go into the store itself and check. $699 for mid range 2012, but I'm still hoping for a refurb at $589.

I'm in St. Pete and was curious if they had stock. I think I'm going to hold out for a refurb. The prices are just too good. I think I'll take the i5 or i7, whichever comes up first.

I don't trust refurb.me to alert in a timely fashion. The 2 times I tried using it or knew someone that tried, the stock alert either never came or was days late. In both cases, being vigilant about looking at the Apple refurb store proved more reliable than waiting for an email.

Been waiting for the refresh and was not happy, lack of refurbs recently resulted in me getting a base mid 2012 from B&H and today I get a present with refurbs avail. The money saved will be used to pay for the memory upgrade I ordered and when the new one arrives its headed back to B&H.

Ok, I've bought every 2012 Mini I could find in stores in my area and a couple refurbs from the online store, I stockpiled 25 of them.

From my cold dead hands, Apple.

Still trolling. Sad. At least contribute positively to the community's discussions.

Still tailgating and going all Sherlock about an obvious parody.
And, it IS contributing. Maybe somebody will smile and realize they're making too much of a big deal about hoarding 2 years old Macs.
