Changing an app's name? how?

Is there a way to change the name of the app completely such that it is not detected by another app when it is running?
I know how the change the name of the app and it changes the name in the processes but the other app still detects the original name and shuts down?

is there a way, so it doesn't get detected by another app that I'm running?

Probably depends on the apps in question. If you're not going to disclose that info, then it's likely no one can help you.

What app are you trying to change, and what app are you looking to deceive (for lack of a better term)?
