Bought it from the online Apple Store last Thursday, $1099 CDN for a black MacBook, 2.2 GHz, last revision. It was listed as having 1GB of RAM and a 120GB hard drive.

I just received it, I live in Canada, it shipped from California. No scratches whatsoever on it, no dead or stuck pixels on it... and it has 2 GB of memory and a 250GB hard drive in it... The only thing is that if I look at it from behind, where the fans are, it seems a little dusty in there.

I regret having bought 4GB of RAM for it, but I will upgrade the RAM anyway - 2GB would have been sufficient, though.

I will absolutely get applecare on this!

Overall, I am very very pleased and I think it is a very good deal.

It looks good beside my Aluminium iMac!!!!

Same thing happened to me.

Got my "new" refurb yesterday. Paid for 320gb HD and got 500GB.

I think this has been happening to a lot of people.

That's great! I've heard stories like this before. But when I purchased my MacBook from the refurb store, everything was stock... I guess I just don't have the same luck as some of you guys...

Same here, I bought a refurbed black macbook, and I got 2 Gigs of ram instead of one.

I honestly didn't figgure that one out untill a week after I got it. Heh.

No upgraded hard drive freebie, though.

Yeah i was kind of hoping for no RAM upgrade because i already had my 4gb kit delivered.

I was extremely happy about the HD even though i don't think there is a chance that i will ever use even the 320gb

Bite your tongue! More is always better - it's the American way :D:D:D

All smarty-pants-ness aside, good score! I'm in the same boat as chef, always getting stock. But, then, it's hard to complain too loudly about the $$s savings.

My refurb'd macbook should be here on Friday. Although I hope it comes with a freebie, I will be happy if it comes to me in just-like-new condition (no scratches, blemishes, cracks, etc.).

If it does have any of those, send it back. A cracked case is hardly "like new" condition.

To the OP: glad you're enjoying your refurb purchase. Nice score on the freebies, too!
Go Habs go?

None of the stores carry refurbs.

Trust me a lot of people are like me and i almost bought new because i wanted it that day. I think that if the stores carried Refurb then new sales would go down significantly. The wait is well worth it. Resist.

Got my refurbished MacBook yesterday and it's been wonderful. No freebies here, but it doesn't matter to me. Very satisfied with another Apple refurb. Yay Apple!

No freebee's on mine, but I just love it. No more PC's for me, and i am a refurb fan man. My MB is MINT!!:D

Congratulations! I'm 27 and am looking at getting my first Mac as well. I'm still in school so I'm going for the Macbook. Just contemplating on getting the refurb 2.2ghz now or wait til June to see what Apple has in store for the Macbook. What to do, what to do...

I love refurbs. I just bought the new thin Bluetooth keyboard. The advertisement for it said it would come with 3 AA batteries, but it actually came with 4. I was so excited... well not really but they were Energizer Lithium batteries which I don't think I would purchase due to their price.

Yeah I just received my refurb 20" iMac and it rocks. NO extra memory or hard drive space tho.

I dont think i would ever have any reason to buy a new Mac since the refurbs always sound like brand new.... this is really fantastic and if i can save money just because some snob opened the box and turned his nose up at it then damn right i will...

Hey hewcardpacklet, I am considering buying a Mac Pro off the Apple Canada Refurbished site, and I have two questions for you. How much tax did they charge you? And were you charged with duty at the border since it came from California?

Just the standard taxes (5% GST, 7.5% QST), no duty taxes because I bought it from the Apple Canada site - even if the macbook came from tumbuktu, they have to handle the shipping themselves.

Just Bought a Refurb 2.2Ghz MacBook from Apple Store

Hi, I am Chris. I have been reading the posts on here for a few weeks and finally decided to register and post. I am a long-time HP/Compaq user and just purchased a refurbished 2.2Ghz black MacBook :apple: from the Apple Store @$1049. I got the AppleCare too, though I thought about not doing it. I am taking MBA courses online and have to decide between Office 04 or iWork '08 and buy some extra GB if I don't luck up and get 2 GB like some others have recently. All in all I would say I am excited and hope it gets to me soon... I hear shipping is hit or miss sometimes. Thanks for the great info, this site was a large deciding factor on both moving to Mac and buying a refurbished MacBook. Cheers!

I received my Macbook yesterday. It took me a few seconds to get all the little bits out of the box. lol The 'book is in perfect condition. I'm in the process of upgrading the hard drive and RAM. I am still trying to find all the new features of my new mac (I'm what you mac people refer to as a "switcher" lol). I didn't get any extras, but I'm just happy with what I did get!
