iBook Keyboard Mod (Never been done before?)

Yeah I don't know if I ever seen this done to an ibook before but looks pretty cool and is very easy to do. Just requires you to pop off the keys and taking a permanent marker and just coloring the "rim" on the bottom of the keys. I used a Lime Green color which gives it a kinda nice back-light feeling kinda glow. Hopefully I'll have a case to match this keyboard very soon ;)

I already changed the "sleep" LED with a green one. Can you say GreenBook?
 
i can say it looks like it got hit by a bus :eek: why dont u buy a mini vga and buy a cheap monitor for that thing... lmao but thats pretty cool... nice clear dock tho
 
That's so coooool!!!! I wanna do that with my iBook G4, but I'm afraid I'll break the keyboard- how hard is it?

Heh, so true! I just bought a G4 ibook for parts so I will be fixing my hinge :D. I also have it taken apart anyways because I will be dying the plastics green.

Sorry, the G4 ibooks have an opaque keyboard and not a clear one so this little mod won't work unfortunately. I'm sure you can swap the keys from a g3 ibook that way you won't ruin your keyboard. It's actually quite very easy, you just have to have patience as to not break the keys or the scissors.

I think I will do just that. I will dye the plastics pink/purple as well. I have plenty of extra plastics and keyboards so I guess I can just swap them when the mood strikes ya know ;), or... I'll just give it to my girlfriend and buy me a blackbook :D
 
Ok thanks for the replies. I got something new that I will be posting in a few days. Anybody want the green keyboard now? I went for a different color this time and it's just not on the keyboard ;) Looks pretty cool IMHO so far. Will post up some pictures later this week of the transformation.

i actually liked the lime green one i wish i could get my hand on one of those ibooks
