NEC MultiSync EA261WM Detected as TV

I am having a problem with my NEC MultiSync EA261WM as a second monitor on my iMac. The monitor is 26inches and has a native resolution of 1920x1200. According to the iMac tech specs the Mini-DVI connector has the capability of outputting 1920x1200 to a secondary monitor.

The picture looks ok but it is actually detecting the display as a TV. This requires me to use the "Overscan" setting to stretch the picture out to the entire screen. Again, it doesn't look bad, I just feel like I can get more out of the quality of this display. It looks fine and is detected fine on a windows machine. I am using a DVI-D cable and the Apple Mini-DVI to DVI-D adapter.

I hope someone can help me, I've spent hours trying to troubleshoot this thing with no luck. Its getting very frustrating.

Update:

I was able to get my monitor to display correctly without overscan by:
0.) Turn off DDC in monitor
1.) Unplug Monitor from Mac
2.) Shut Down Mac
3.) Reset PRAM - While booting mac hold command option p and r
4.) Plug the monitor back into the mac.

It shows up fine but is still showing up as a TV. I'm getting NTSC 60hz.

I would also like to note that Windows 7 64bit installed on Boot Camp looks perfect with no hacks at all. DDC enabled and everything. The text is much crisper in Windows 7 for some reason. I think its the NTSC problem.


Does anyone else have any suggestions? I really want this to work properly.

I don't believe that....This NEC isn't a Dell Ultrasharp, but it is by no means a cheap acer.

It is a problem with the EDID and the Mac. I'm a mac user, I hate windows. In this situation, Windows 7 installed in boot camp reads and displays the monitor perfectly with no problems at all. It is only in Snow Leopard that I have problems.

Not looking to get into a forum war here, I just want an educated person to give me some technical information on how to fix my problem.
