Photos taken by new iPhone 4S owners have begun appearing on Flickr. Apple has touted Flickr's Camera Finder in the past to show how popular the iPhone 4 is as a camera. Photos of eggs, a remote control and a parking garage have been posted and all look very impressive.

iLounge have also posted a number of comparison shots between the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S cameras, including this pair of shots of peacock feathers. Left is the iPhone 4S, right is the iPhone 4.

The 4S gives a richer and more natural vibe.

But in all honesty, if you look at the picture in its original resolution, it's sort of underwhelming. I was expecting pictures like the ones on Apple's site. :(

New threads like this make me regret my decision to stick with my iPhone 4...

I thought 4 and 4S were supposed to be the same!

Edit: Must... resist.... urge....

Actually, without being there it's hard to know which white balance setting is correct for the lighting conditions. Although auto white balance is always hit or miss except for general outdoor unshaded lighting.

iPhone 4S has better dynamic range too. It's not just tonality. I'm HIGHLY impressed by mine.

my wife's 4S just showed up, I will sync her to the same photostream as my iphone 4 and ipad, so i will have those HQ photos anyway. :D

Great way to see if she's taking pictures for someone she shouldn't be!

How can you tell which has better color without knowing what it actually looks like? I mean, is the wall supposed to be richly tan, as in the 4S pic, or lightly tan, as in the 4 pic?

I so agree with this.

Sweet Jesus, those are horrid photo's are they not?

Did someone load them into Photoshop and run a heavy noise filter over them?

i want to see a comparison shot of someone's face with the focus right on the eyes. the feather shots are hard to tell what was supposed to be in focus.

I can honestly say that the yellowish tint that was present in my iPhone 4 is not in my 4S. I avoided taking pictures indoors because they always looked a little too yellow and with the new one I've made it a point to photograph several rooms, inside my home, and the difference is very obvious. Anyone who had one of those 'bad' (for lack of better words) phones and now upgraded will agree with me.

I opened both photos in preview to see the info:
First box: iPhone4. Second box: iPhone 4S

Must not be AT&T customers

trying so far for 3.5 hours to activate. Just on hold for 45 minutes to learn it will be another 2 hours. What a mistake reupping my contract.

Funny how everyone has managed to avoid mentioning the real improvement: less digital noise.

The warmer look of the 4S picture is not "better" -- that's just a difference in white balance.

Camera+ (http://campl.us/) and iPhone 4S. A very tempting combination (not to mention everything else.)

I normally upgrade my phone every two years. I might just make an exception this time . . .
