A new book launch could place it at a lower level temporarily.


It makes sense to assume that books are qualified considering price, sales volume both at launch as over a period of time, total sales, profit, etc.

amazon.com vs. amazon.de (roughly 4:1 or so). i would say that all of the European amazon sites combined probably get more hits than the US site (assuming roughly 650M ppl in Europe.)

Who is this Steve Guy? I mean the guy who is the Voice of Siri was called up and told to stop talking to the press, as Apple isn't about one person. Also agree. I got it on release day. I'm only half way through it, and no particular desire to finish it.

Human nature? I think you're over-analyzing something grossly unimportant. If you support something, you want it to be No. 1. Are you saying that there is nothing that you admire that you would want to succeed?

There's really no need to turn this into a philosophical/psychological argument about human behavior

Plus, I always have my iPhone with me which makes it more convenient to kill downtime like waiting for someone that is running late or long holiday lines. I can't say I would be carrying the physical book or iPad with me everywhere I go.

I'm pretty positive that it is obviously the US #1, and the aggregate worldwide #1; not sure what is confusing people so much about that, because even though it is #2-5 at other large places worldwide, the US is obviously Amazon's biggest market- and that stupid Heaven book isn't the #1's in the other countries.

I enjoyed reading the book. But that doesn't mean I think it was a GOOD book. I think somewhere along the journey, Isaacson lost his way and even though he clearly included negativity in his book, it was clear at times that he just took Steve's word as gospel without balancing it with other viewpoints on some subjects.

That being said - even if the book was complete crap - it would have been the #1 seller because of the subject matter.
