Sorry to hear that. At least they've got the perpetrator! Good work there.

Are we supposed to be mad because a house was broken into, or that it was Steve's house? I can't tell from the article or many of the responses, so it's just a mystery.

Unlucky burglar

I kind of feel bad for the burglar. Here he was thinking, "Whoa! Never thought I'd have such a score at a single house before!" Turns out he burgled the former house of one of silicon valley's most beloved personalities who enjoyed the respect and admiration of the local government and authorities. I smell maximum punishment from the D.A. here.

Then again, a house close to the Apple headquarters with every room full of Apple computers should have been his first clue.

That and family photos still on the mantle.

Forget it, I retract what I said. The burglar's an idiot.

I had my car robbed once. The laptop and accessories were replaced after a simple insurance claim. In my case, the feeling of intrusion was so overwhelmed by the thief's stupidity that I'm still baffled to this day.

I had accidentally left my laptop in my car over night, nestled safely inside the laptop bag. The thief took the laptop and all the assorted cables, but left the bag.

Seriously. Who on earth steals a laptop *from* the bag instead of just taking the bag? What's going to look less suspicious, a guy walking down the street with a laptop bag on his shoulder, or a guy walking down the street with a laptop and a bunch of cables loose in his hands? It just makes absolutely no sense to me.

I'd like to think that even in the United States the punishment is fit to the crime, not the stature of the victim.

By all means, they may comment if they so wish. It just doesn't offer much constructive towards a discussion. Surely if they are able to dissent from the addition of a news story, I'm able to dissent about their commenting.

News Update: The $60,000.00 Mac Pro that was taken from Jobs home was accidently mistaken by Kariem McFarlin to be a Samsung Vac Pro Shopvac 2000 (Pictured Below), which he was borrowing and planed to use in cleaning up the renovation work area after forgetting to bring his own shop vac from home. Kariem's statement after questioning, "I was confused! I couldn't tell the two devices apart, My Bad!"

You should get a nicer bag next time. Perhaps, he was a picky thief.

Don't you hate it when your crime is against someone that makes it international news and a priority investigation by several entities?

I agree. I hope something sensible occurs that results in some appropriate result, in a fitting and reasonable time frame.

I'm very surprised that Laurene, with all of her enormous wealth, did not have a high level of security arranged while construction was going on.

Meh. Seems much ado about nothing. After all surely this wasn't the first time you guys heard the word right? It was just a silly derailing of this thread for no reason.

That's a bit harsh, isn't it? You know what exactly about him or his situation?

Granted, odds are he's a little douche, but really.. would you be so outraged if it was the home of someone you'd never heard of? Probably not.

You forget Steve Job is about efficiency. Is not efficient for people to live too long and just be poop themselves and mumbling.
