13-Inch Retina MacBook Pro Pricing to Start at Roughly $1699

9to5Mac reports that it has begun to receive pricing information on the upcoming 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro. According to the information, the entry-level model should be priced in the neighborhood of $1699, a $500 premium over the corresponding non-Retina model.

We've now received pricing information on the base model and the "better" model. Based on wholesale prices we've received, we believe the entry model 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro will cost roughly $1699 at launch while the higher specc'ed model will cost $300 more making the $2000 price point likely.

Current pricing on non-Retina 13-inch MacBook Pro

Interestingly, the estimated $500 price premium for the Retina version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro compares to a $400 premium on the entry-level 15-inch Retina versus non-Retina models. The higher-level 15-inch configuration carries a $600 price premium over its non-Retina counterpart due to the significantly more expensive 512 GB flash storage included with the machine.

It looks the same as the regular one, anybody?
And honestly I don't think an Intel 4000 won't be able to handle this, since it can barley handle the 15-inch.

Seems about right. I'd argue that the expected decreased graphics ability of the purported 13" rMBP vs the 15" rMBP would be generally considered par when the $500 difference was accounted for between the 13" vs 15".

I have been waiting a while for a retina 13 inch macbook pro! $1699 sounds like the same pricing ratio to what the Retina 15 inch was to the non retina model.

Ouch, pricey. I'm still thinking this generation of retina computers is just a little too cutting edge with a cutting edge price to match. The 13-inch Air for $1199 seems like the laptop to buy for most folks.

How can you say that if the 15" models all have discrete cards.

Its not the graphics hardware besides, its the Drivers!!! The 4000 would only run at 10% to produce the picture on screen but its the driver that doesnt allow the chip to output pixels at the rate its capble of.
