Great ad!

It's a great way to let folk know that there is now a smaller version of the iPad. That's the whole purpose of this 30sec.
"Look, here's a nice looking tablet...
now here's a identical but smaller version...
It's called iPad Mini."

Pretty straight forward if you ask me.

The music is a simple flourish. It has nothing to do with Apps. They could have just stared at a blank iPad and achieved the same result.

When MacRumors first loaded for me, instead of the iPad commercial I got this:

I am sure that someone will be along to say the wall of text was better than the Ad soon. :)

Our favorite forum seagulls cant resist. (The ones who look around for any news item to swoop in and annoy the rest of us, pick up a scrap and then proceed to make a lot of noise, poop all over the area and then fly away like they accomplished anything)

1) It evokes your memory of learning that song when you were young. Sentimentality in abundance.

2) It makes you think of your children should they be human rather than a stack of old Apple hardware.

3) The iPad Mini has the "Heart and Soul" of its bigger sister.

pwnage.

If I was someone who didn't know what an iPad does, this video makes me think that the iPad is a $329 digital piano.

If you were someone who didn't know what an iPad does and retarded, so yes, this videos makes you think that the iPad is a $329 digital piano ...

Come on!

That song is a bit overused, however, that is a great ad.

Even during the keynote it got huge applause...both cause its great, and because some recent ads have gotten criticism, and this one seems to nestle in there with the better ones.

Best Apple ad for quite a while, in my opinion. I hate it when computer ads feel the need to swamp the viewer with specs they don't understand, but this is the opposite - it's about user experience.

I like this commercial much more than the hyper excited dancing pastel ipod commercials. I find those a bit annoying actually. I do however find the ones with the skinny jeans hipsters dancing around even more annoying.

Aside from the fact that Heart and Soul makes me want to jump out the window of my 15th storey flat, I loved this ad. Adorable. :p

So you would have liked it more if it was just two iPads side by side with camera panning & zooming- in silence? Because there wasn't very much in the ad to begin with :p

I personally thought the ad was brilliant.
It shows off how beautiful the white iPad is
and at the same time has a little humor.
"like I am the big cool iPad that can do anything- oh yeah
I am the cute little new iPad mini and I may be small but just as cool"
compare this to the annoying ads "droid does"
The droid ads make the device seem robotic and cold. The new Apple ad
is warm and fuzzy

I wonder who plays the additional bass notes in the second part. Must be a hint to the hidden 12" iPad Pro.

Remember the Apple IIgs Ad?

This great ad immediately gave me a flashback to the Apple IIgs Ad from the 80s! Anyone familiar with that one?

I actually really liked this ad, and love Garage Band on the iPad. One of my favorite "fun" apps in iOS for sure.

Robots

You guys may like the ad but personally I prefer commercials that have no actual footage of the product in use and instead feature fighting robots. /sarcasm

Then why advertise? If someone knows what an iPad is, I'm pretty sure that someone is familiar with apps. And apps means a lot of things. Including digital piano.

That means that this video is targeted to people who doesn't know what an iPad is. And with the video, I'd think that it's a digital piano.

Good work advertising, Apple. Instead of showing the key features of the iPad, making it look like a digital piano is more important. The digital piano isn't even a built in app.

Advertising isn't primarily about showing you what a product does. The goals of advertising, I'm sure there are more than this, are:

To raise awareness of the brand and/ or product
Provoke an emotional response
And in a limited fashion give some idea of what the product is.

Example: you'll never see an alcoholic product showing someone stumbling over drunk. Instead you'll be shown images of fun, hot women, or what ever other type if emotion the advertising company think will provoke you into acting and buying the product.

I personally didn't like the advert, but then again I have no interest in playing musical instruments. Bottom line it didn't provoke any type of emotional response from me. But it's blatantly obvious to see that the advertisement was a success by how many people on here love this advert and responded in an emotional way

Very rarely is an advertisement about showing you what a product does.

There is no native YouTube app for iOS 6, which the iPad Mini runs.

It's only a matter of weeks before one is released.

Although I found I used the native app on a phone, but never bothered with it on my iPad. I just used the browser like I would in a desktop. Each to their own though. I'm sure there are some people who would use a YouTube app on the desktop if they had one
