"Books" is for the left-brain folks and "photos" is for the right-brains. I like them both. Those who don't understand the Books ad lack an analytical mind. Or just don't have an attention to detail?

Ding ding...was going to say the same thing.
They would have crushed it with putting retina on this...everyone knows it's coming...ridiculous they left it off.
Two of a kind only by name. Classy but boring ads, with 26 years and counting it feels to me that Apple is targeting 'older' people. Anyhow, I don't like the ads. It's a good thing the product sells itself, I'm happy with my 4th gen iPad.
I find it all the more ironic when it emphasizes text and photos, yet you know the Mini doesn't use a retina screen...
I guess I am biased, but these commercials look to be some of the best commercials Apple has made in a while.

I have been using an iPad mini for the last week, I also have a retina iPad, the screen on the mini is great and very usable. IMHO all this bleating about it not being retina is crap, wait if you want, but I'm enjoying using mine NOW.
80-90% of things people do on the ipad you can't tell much difference between an ipad3 retina and an ipad 2 screen. The issues are even less of an issue when you shrink the screen down to ipad2 screen.

20/20 vision my friend. Side by side comparisons. You can't see the pixels as much when the screen real estate is smaller as well, would I have preferred a retina model? Sure, but that would keep costs lower too; I don't need a retina model currently for my needs as I said 80-90% of the stuff I use it for I can't tell a huge difference in the quality side by side. Guess that's great for me, then. And anyone I've asked to look at them side by side in my office. Guess they are all blind. Sucks your vision is so awesome it makes you bitter.Only if you are blind.
Garage Band, Photos, Books... what will the 4th ad show off?
I was thinking movies, but someone else mentioned games which is probably correct.
Unfortunate, but they didn't have the same impact as the first.
It's not ridiculous. The power requirements of the Retina display are too great for the mini right now.Ding ding...was going to say the same thing.

I like the new ads. Ads are one of the things that Apple really does better than anyone else. In contrast, all Samsung can do in their ads is bashing Apple and its "fanboys".
Really?....... with the current screen technology, they couldn't put a retina display into the iPad Mini without making it thicker, heavier, having shorter battery life, and more expensive. That was a tradeoff Apple was unwilling to make.
Seriously, though, I think these ads work so much better because they're getting back to the old adage of "a picture's worth a thousand words". The Siri and Genius ads were both very "busy" -- much moreso than what we'd think of as "traditional" Apple ads of the last four or five years. These iPad mini ads are getting back to the idea of subtly yet very clearly articulating the message to the consumer..
