Because they'll likely sell two (more or less) of the mini for each replaced iPad?

Take a little hit per unit, make up for that by selling a lot more units.

It isn't rocket science, nor is it a new concept in marketing products.

But it hurts profit margin.

iPad is very hot in the market. I think it is good for Apple to use its finite manufacturing capacity to build more higher price iPad.

Old geezer looks like a pedophile.

No he doesn't!

Your comment says more about you and the sad collapse of the world's value system than it does about this grandfather.

Not all old people are mean, ugly, creepy, to be avoided, and unworthy of love and respect. On the contrary, we owe many people (elderly included) far more love and respect than we give them! We need to stop criticizing other people and begin to show each other love, honor, respect, and human value again.

Not to sound like your parents, but "Respect your elders!"

Same to you, why do you think I care about your grandfather? Get over it ;)

Ya, kids should tell their parents "I simply wants a smaller iPad because it fits my lifestyle." It sounds so classy. .... Few months later, kids will tell their parents "I need new eyeglasses."

In my previous post I replied to v0lume4, I said " I don't like this CHEAP Apple TV ad because it targets at little girl's parents and old man. It's not cheap to advertise on TV, can Apple come up with something better for broader audience and products? "

It's Apple PRopaganda machine :apple: generalizes about who buys which Apple products and why, not me.

Yeah.... I think you don't really get the concept of what advertising is about. Of course they're appealing to the little girl/grandfather combo. In normal human society that is a pretty special bond. Not sure where you're from but maybe that means nothing to you and your family but for the majority of the world it's a pretty big deal.

Do you use Siri? Cause talking to ones phone Is in the same completely lame category..... But hey people do it.

Yup that's why there're Siri clones like S(uck)-voice and Google voice, because it's lame.

Wow I really find it astounding to see how people analyze and criticize this lovely ad for no reason. WELL LOOK AT SAMSUNG's ADS and ****.

Thought it was an excellent commercial. Apple is one of a few companies that can put an ad out that doesn't have to talk about the product. In this case two products.

A reenactment from inside my mind reading this thread.

"Cute commercial, grandpa probably didn't hear a damn thing but enjoyed seeing his granddaughter in ways he never though would be possible in his lifetime. Ok comments, let's see the hate begin.
scrolling.....

funny comment....

typical apple hater comments about it not being the same since Steve died....

wait a minute......
Who is this guy who feels the need to brag about all the apple products he bought this year and then continue speaking his opinion on marketing like it's from the holy bible and everything in his life should apply to everyone else's life as well?

apple-win.......hmmmm. You. You will be my target for the foreseeable future."

Just because you don't understand the emotion that the commercial is trying to convey, doesn't mean it sucks or it's cheap. I don't give a crap how many apple products you own. Yes I do believe someone who buys a 27" iMac 12 core doohicky to check email, surf the web and watch movies is not normal. It's called buying outside of your needs, or overcompensating, which sounds like what you were trying to do when you listed all of your purchases for this year.

Please just realize that everything you've said about apple's marketing and it's product lines is your OPINION. Not fact. The facts are, apple will sell just about anything it puts out very well. And the mini is no different. I had a full size iPad. I sold it because it wasn't getting the job done that I needed and thought it might be able to do. So now guess what I'm looking at. An 11" Air and an iPad mini. The air to do my work that the iPad couldn't do, and the mini to still take on some of the things that were just more pleasant on an iPad and not a computer, like reading.

So everytime you use your iPad, please think of those young migrant workers (boys and girls) making iPads in Foxconn factories in China. They leave their grandpa grandma in their rural villages and move to the Foxconn facilities in the city. Apple should give free iPads to the migrant workers and their families so that they can do video call everyday.

Apple is good at sensationzed tactics in its propaganda.

Some of you.... Too ***** funny.

I find the ad - Brilliant.

Funny is how your perceived thinking takes some of you to a place of negativity.

I'll tell u why it's brilliant. I myself bought my 90 year old Uncle an iPad and my separately my 86 year old Aunt.

When they both used FACETIME they literally had tears in their eyes how technology brought them together with such ease even tho they were hundreds of miles apart. Being next to them marveling at the technology was priceless.

So very few of you get the concept of the ad. That's what's sad.

Apples running a gyration of different ads, tons in fact. There is differentiation for reasons most here don't grasp. The Samesung comparisons are just as stupid. Apple makes no comparisons in the current ad crop, why are any of you?

For the record, the "tap together" Samsung ads could be made into a total SNL comedy skit, think about it. Two guys force tapping the phones and they fall apart lol. Or how about one that shows two people sharing pics then realize oops i didnt want you to see my self portrait porn shots lol. Steve Jobs himself could look at those spots and go our NFC wont even need to clang two together the backs of the phones lol. What happens when u have a case on both? Those spots could be turned into comedy and could be a hurt if Apple does it better. Think different.

my opinion is coming from a creative standpoint .. I enjoy what they do.. I see it as they are not up to par on commercials as of now. Samsung winning on that to....

What you've just written is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having read your comments. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

or on his brain .... and the brain of some of the other incoherent ramblings of this thread

Its great that whenever a google nexus ad comes on, everyone thinks its an ipad commercial until the end when the google logo appears. They should probably put the logo at the beginning of the commercial.

Yes, please:)

LoL, one has NOTHING to do with the others. Advertisers play to people's emotions so you buy their product. Showing a sweat shop line of "poor" Chinese making products does nothing to compel people to buy products. I'm done dealing with you as you obviously have no clue. Have a good one bud.

This is a godsend for grandparents, now they can get their precocious grandbrats done and dusted in 5 minutes instead of having the living crap bored out of them all day, thanks to Apple.
