EXC_SIGSEGV was the reason for springboard crashing **i think.

Looked at my bro's iPhone 5, no springboard crashes in the log, but I saw that SMS crashed and looked the same thing (that SIGSEGV) and some quartz dribble after that.

I'm a little more relieved that others are having the same issue.

When I did a restart, I noticed tons of apps were in the background.

But the first time I got the respring thing, was like 5 minutes after opening it up new out of the box (i think for that camera slide up photo while in an elevator searching for service) is what caused it.

Hmmmm...

Once right after opening, and once after a DFU restore and restore from backup 12 days later I suppose isn't that bad, could be worse like every day or multiple times every day. Just sorta weirded out about it because I don't ever remember a stock iPhone respringing itself ever (though 90% of using an iPhone over the course of the life of iPhone, every generation, I've been jailbroken so maybe its hard to say).

Could this be relevant? I can't say I have that same issue exactly necessarily, prompted by slide to unlock for texts (unless it's crashed while getting a text in the process) but I've had the random reboots.

This has happened to me 4-5 times since I got my iPhone 5 on launch day. I think it's an SMS bug that crashes the springboard. It seems to only happen to me when I slide to unlock immediately after getting a text.

Good to know.

Just wondering why I don't see any Springboard crash log in either of the other two family members' iPhone 5's :/

Maybe because they don't text/multitask/do whatever is tripping this up like I do?

I saw some unique crash logs of their own on one iPhone 5 that wasn't mine (but not springboard, just 3rd party apps crashing mostly with very odd things I hadn't seen before on my 4S 5 or iPad3 that weren't invalid_access or 0x8badf00d timeout/spit outs can't remember what but it seemed sort of chilling, but the person hasn't complained about instability so I guess no worries on that one either?

I am just so weirded out about a stock device (not customized or jailbroken) re-springing itself, even if it's not every day or even every week. first one happened not long after playing with the device out of the box, next one like 12 days later, and this one like 18 days later.

But I really guess with iOS 6, anything is possible?

And I guess with all software, anything is possible. It blows my mind that Facebook scrolling and theverge.com scrolling (used to at least) cause Safari to crash almost without fail on 5.1.1 iPad3. And also confirmed it with other units as well. I know its a lot of content to be showing, but come on: I would imagine at least a quarter of people browse facebook on safari on their tablet instead of the app and to get booted out especially when zooming on a wall feed, is meh.

My iPhone 5 (32GB, iOS 6.0.2) has done it twice now, crashing to the Apple logo for 5 seconds and then the lock screen.

Both times I was attempting to swipe down on the Notification Centre. No texts were received at that time.

As texts are accessed through notification centre on the lock screen, I predict that is where the bug lies.

How do you do a "crash report"?

Does it do this when you unlock it after you've gotten a message? This happens to me every once in awhile when I get a message and I go to unlock it.
