At a minimum, you need to update the operating system. You're still on 10.8, and 10.8.2 is current, and a lot more reliable.
Were you playing a DVD or was there something in the optical drive when it crashed?

Nope. nothing. I just finished installing a SSD and installing a fresh copy of the OS along with software. Pretty sure it crashed again after installing the update. COuld it be the SSD? I hope not as it was a paid in the ass trying to install that.

Dunno but from all the msgs about Bluetooth referencing the USB it'd make sense, or something wasn't properly reconnected.

It could certainly be related. Check for firmware updates for the SSD but again, run software update.

All software up to date.

I have the samsung SSD, not that easy to update firmware. I will try via the VM route.

I also installed RAM.

Looks like its the memory.

So according to the this forum as well as Mactracker you should be able to upgrade a 27" mid 2010 to 32 GB, however after further reading it seems that only the i5 and i7 from this model can be upgraded to 32GB. The 27" i3 (mine) can only support 16Gb in a 4x4GB config. So this explains all the kernel panics with the 2x8GB + 2x2Gb ram config i had.

Can anyone verify my logic? I found this info in the OWC page here
