Apple needs to replace Lithium-ion battery with safer battery environment

Nope, Lithium-ion, when manufactured and used properly, is the most effective battery technology.

Unfortunately, Apple doesn't seem to put much emphasis on producing really safe, non-swelling, non-dying-after-half-a-year batteries, unlike, say, Nokia. But that's not the problem of the Li-Ion tech itself (as is proved by numerous other Li-Ion manufacturers), but that of Apple.

Apple like many others are heavily invested in research and design. The issue is there is no next big thing we are at the peak of what's currently available. Hence why newer phones use less power as that is currently the only step forward.

*cough* Graphene. *cough*

"Device production became problematic since hands are simply too big, so we reimagined the assembly line by removing human involvement and replaced them with thinner, lighter automated devices building 40% thinner, lighter automated devices"

That's the same people thought when they came up with Cell Adaptive Charging for the then new unibody macbook's.. We don't now what the peak is until they release something new.

If the iMac is made by a machine why isn't it made in america/country it is sold to?. Wouldn't that make it cheaper due to less shipping?

A few reasons. Two spring to mind as primary ones:

1. Lower Taxation in 'other countries'.

2. Cheaper labour and facility cost's.

Both of these on their own outweigh the reason [for Apple] to bring production to America, or any other countries where people expect [and need] to be paid a decent wage to live on.

In fact this move makes labour cost's even lower in the long run, having an automated service in the 'other countries'.

At this point, it almost doesn't matter what country the manufacturing is in. There are going to be fewer and fewer jobs in that arena because more and more things are going to be able to be produced my machines. The buildings are in China now, but eventually technology that is related to 3d printers combined with robotics will start replacing all manufacturing, and it the energy costs will decide the most economical place to build them.

Eventually, with the labor use dropping in China, they will want to tax or regulate the factories to make the money back, and the factories will move elsewhere.

I'm not sure how this will impact the consumer, I don't think quality control will change nor will the cost to include the savings Apple will be making.

Jobs would be proud

Jobs Tried to run automated factories for both the Macintosh and NEXT. Its nice to see that they are moving back to automated production.....

"Now, to do this, in addition to designing the machine, in the last year and a half we have designed and built the machine to build the machines. We’ve invested over $20 million to build the computer industry’s first automated factory in Fremont, California, overlooking Ford and GM. The factory’s based on the concepts of just-in-time delivery, of zero-defect parts, and it’s a manufacturing process which allows extremely high-volume production of extremely high-quality products. And were it not for this shareholders meeting today, we’d be building over 500 Macintoshes."

You're correct. I apologize.

Socialists like profit as long as the govt takes it all.

Socialists don't like just profits as long as any given government takes "it" all either. Such dogmatic cliches and very simplistic approach about socialism can't be taken seriously.

I'm not a socialist myself, before you addressing me with that, I just dislike narrow-minded views on the meaning of "socialism" due lack of knowledge. There are lot's of different viewpoints on socialism. Yours is apparently based on preconceptions and fear for a government that might ask money from it's people.
I don't need to explain there is more to it then just that......

Too bad Apple can't invest more of this ingenuity toward improving the battery life and size, instead of focusing on automating a subpar product.

Clearly, Apple is doing a lot more to improve battery life and size than anyone else.
