Anyone have comparison between the ivy bridge and has well 15 inch retina laptops in regard to temperatures?

Was just wondering if the laptop is comfortable using on the lap.

Average idling temperatures: 55-57ºC @ 1300rpm (13" Haswell rMBP)

I'll submit my 15" Haswell rMBP temperatures when I return back to NZ.

EDIT: In an air-conditioned environment, my 13" rMBP averages at around 45ºC.

I haven't noticed any heat issues when using my rMBP on my lap. I haven't been playing heavy games on it at the time - just Firefox, iTunes, Pages, iPhoto, and PS Elements 12.

My 2012 rMBP idling temps are in the mid to high 30s low 40s if memory serves me (I'm away from my laptop at the moment).

Im averaging 50c with a couple of firefox tabs and itunes in an air conditioned environment. With heavy use it howevers around 78c which is way better den my early 2013 which used to hover around 90c both have discrete graphics.

I went from an early 2013 to an early 2014 rMBP 15 max RAM and Storage. The 2014 feels less warm probably because the fans spin faster in heavy use (6200 rpm). According to the iStat pro widget when heavy processing transcoding/rendering, the GPU seems to run as hot, typically 75-80C, the CPU not quite as warm, typically 55-60C at the heatsink... but I see wide variations in CPU temp. The 2014 seems to cool down faster. The 2014 seems to idle 45-50C, don't recall the 2013.

The 2014 has Crystalwell, however. Dunno if that makes a difference. It has discrete graphics, dunno how that translates to integrated.

The 2014 will feel more comfortable on the lap... but if you are gaming or rendering.... it may still be uncomfortable.

There is no early-2014, only late-2013. If you bought it in early 2014, you have a late-2013 rMBP.
