Big Apple fan here. I work for Verizon and I got my business phone in the mail today. I chose the LG G3. What are some cool things that I can do with this phone and with android in general? I am still in training for Verizon, so I don't know a whole lot about Android just yet.

Check out a couple of LG G3 videos on YouTube - one is "25 Hints & Tips for the LG G3" and the other one is 50 Things etc.

Very informative.

Shoot a 4k porno. I'm still working through the proposal with the misses. Sometimes you only have one shot at these things so I wanna make the pitch to her just right.

You can only fit about 4 minutes of 4k video onto the phone, so that should be plenty of time for you.

Update on my G3. Looks like it's going to have to go back.

It's not reading SIM cards at all.

Bit gutted!

Wish I could help folks out with issues but if this was a big problem I think there would be a big thread on xda about it which I have not seen.

Must have gotten a defective one, because most people are having VERY minimal, if any, issues with their G3s. LG did a pretty good job on this first batch. Just exchange it and you should be good to go :)

You getting a replacement of going for something else?

Sending it in under warranty.

If they can fix it, then will almost certainly keep it...

If not, then I'll maybe wait a couple of months and see what else comes out! Maybe the Z3, Moto X+1 etc...

I guess you are not in USA?

If there is a problem within first 14-30 days, usually stores will give you straight exchange.

If you are in the US, I wouldn't recommend sending it in for warranty. LG has been subpar with warranty claims in the past.

That is the only way I try so many devices, and I am not just talking exchanges.

Dont you get charged a $35 or something restocking fee by doing that though? I thought i read that one of them or all carriers do that.

If it is under warranty the carrier will usually replace it. At least TMobile has for me.

Has anyone here owned the M8 and G3? If so, which device do you prefer? I'm debating which one to get.

Thank you in advance! ;)

I've not owned any of them, but I've been checking out both of these a ton lately to help my girlfriend with her choice. About to settle on the M8 as the reports are so varied about the G3, it just seems less reliable. Seems a lot of people are getting overheating leading to forced dimming of the screen. And I can attest to the screen not being very bright to begin with, after checking the phone out a lot in stores.

So, prob going to roll with fat speakers over the fancy screen for this one. Feels like the G3 would have been a much better phone if they'd just gone for a still-great 1080p screen. The sheer screen-to-bezel ratio and slick design would have made it a massive hit even without the Quad HD thing.

It's in under warranty with LG in the UK.

Thing is I've heard dodgy things about LG's warranty here, that's why I'm not holding my breath!

Also I think sometimes they outsource repairs to another company that has ridiculously bad reviews on Google lol.

If they fix the phone, great. If not I'll just sell it, it's basically perfect except for one specific fault and should fetch a decent price.

They have to ring me and check with me first before going ahead with anything so let's see.

I have both phones right now. I really like the G3...but there is just nothing about it that makes me want to keep it. The form factor is great. The speed and overall responsiveness is great. No lag as some have reported. The battery life is good.
I had to take mine off of auto brightness to really have a bright screen. I have it at 55%. The sound is good....but not near the M8. The camera is better than the M8. I did not have any overheating on the G3. The G3 is a great phone. But for me......I will stick with the M8 for now.

G3 is a really good phone. But m8 is a really good phone. Just be glad you have choices. Both have strengths and weaknesses. Same for the Galaxy S5.

Therr is very little differentiation between these "super phones" of 2014.

Smartphone market is very mature. There aren't many "wow" new features these days. Even the g3 screen while awesome. Most people won't notice the difference between 1080p vs 1440p on a 5-5.5 inch screen.

The form factor of the M8 just kept ticking me off every time I played with it at retailers and the dot case was not something I relished handling the device.

I am not a camera guy and I still went for the G3. If the latter came out first and then I went for the M8 when it came out afterwards, well I would say to myself why would I keep the M8.

BTW, I ditto your first paragraph except not wanting to keep the G3. Everything about it I really like and the form factor is outstanding for its size.

Upon their release dates I bought an M8, SGS 5 and LG G3.

These three are simply excellent, each with its unique strengths and style. I'm enjoying them so much I am having a bit of a hard time deciding which two to eliminate. For once I either got lucky or these phones are that good, none of them has presented any problems or even annoyances. Are they perfect? No they aren't, but it's personal preference and that I celebrate.

As I write this I must admit I'm leaning heavily towards the G3, it's ergonomics are the best for my use as I spend lots of time with my primary smartphone. So light, so compact and well balanced it's spacious display and narrow bezels compared to the others makes the work I do on desktop web sites a pleasure. I'm truly impressed how much improvement this latest LG shows compared to my G2.

You can't lose no matter which one you choose.

I bought the G3 on launch day, and just exchanged it for an M8 yesterday. The screen is so nice on the G3, but overall I think the M8 is a bit better, particularly the UI, speakers, build materials, front camera, and the display itself a bit less washed out.

To compliment the G3, LG definitely has a winner on their hands. But then again so does HTC.

Thanks for the feedback! It so happens I got an invite for OPO and just ordered it today. I figured at that price, you can't go wrong. Worst case, I'll sell the OPO at the price I got it for.

But thank you again.

I just noticed today I was trying to double tap the screen on my iPad to wake it back up... Darn G3 teaching me new habits! So far I'm really enjoying this phone.
