iPhone (5.5) and iPhone Air (4.7) I don't know why anyone thinks the bigger will be the Air. If it even exists.

or iPhone and iPhone pro. that would be a laugh.

I agree with the first statement, however, the MacBook Air line is the smaller more compact type of macbook, it costs less. The iPad Air is the bigger model of the 2 types of iPad (kinda like MacBook Pro) and is the more expensive one.

So it could go either way.

I don't think it will be the iPhone Mini (4.7") and the iPhone Air (5.5") because it doesn't make sense.
I don't think it will be the iPhone Air (4.7") and the iPhone Pro (5.5") again, seems kind of silly.

I think apple will keep it simple and just name it the iPhone 6, then you have to specify what size/carrier/finish/capacity you want at the store/online store.

I don't think the bigger variation is going to be called "iPhone" at all. They're going to carry on the iPhone line with the 4.7in version and the larger "phablet" released later in the fall will be their jump into a new line of products with a separate name.

Building on their success with the iPad 3, Apple will issue the 4.7 as "iPhone" in October and simply discontinue it when the 5.5 "iPhone" is released in November:D

Personally I am hoping they drop the 6 moniker and go for
iPhone Mini (4in 5S in 5C attire), iPhone Air (4.7) and iPhone Pro (5.5).

In my world that naming scheme would make plenty of sense and allow them to stop the naming structure they are in now like they did with the iPad w/Retina name.

Agree that it will be the 5.5" phone that gets the new name. ...whether that means iPhone Air, iPhone Pro, iPhone Plus, iPhone Max, or whatever else - I don't know.

iPhone air, seems the most logical, but I'm not jazzed up about that name - it doesn't do much for me.

They could also just give it a different letter designation. Like the iPhone 6x

Does anyone think the 5.5" iPhone 6 exists? i keep seeing people saying it doesn't exist and that there will be no 5.5" iPhone. Whats's the general thinking on this?

Personally i would like to see a 5.5" as a choice against the 4.7"

Personally I don't. I'm just basing that off Apples past history and the lack of leaks, but could be wrong. Have to wait and see. I personally don't want a phone that big but I hope it exist for all the people that do want it.

4.7 will be called iphone basic econo, and the 5.5 will be called the iphone supreme ultra deluxe.

That'd totally be Microsoft++. Although then it would be iPhone home and iPhone ultimate or something equally stupid.

I can't imagine Apple actually doing that, but possibly iPhone Air and iPhone Pro.

Anyone who doesn't acknowledge that a 5.5" is currently in the production pipeline simply isn't paying attention.

I don't see how what will likely be the heaviest phone Apple has ever released will be labeled Air.

Aren't their Air devices reduction in weight per their respective market?

The full size tablet category got the iPad Air title from its reduction in weight. The MacBook Air got its title from its reduction in weight.

I guess if you clumped their full size and mini tablet markets into one then you could see a larger iPhone being called the Air but even then its not a product that got a reduction in weight like Apple has done.
