So even someone careful will once in a while expose their phone?

I am confused, I though you said earlier that someone who is wearing the right cloth and with basic common sense will not have any issue ...

Seems like it, unless your making a slIght on your brother.

I know this is mind blowing but here's a tip: Stop wearing tight hipster pants and use a normal fit or using back pockets where the pocket curves due to the butt.
so you're saying that if somebody buys the new iphone, they also have to buy new pair of jeans just so the phone wont bend since its badly designed? Are you serious or just playing stupid?

I don't really understand the point of this thread. There's no "debunking" here.

You know what doesn't bend? Quality products like my Lumia 1520.

Betcha a new phone I could bend it.

Just because some people out there don't know how to treat a large, thin device doesn't mean anything on the larger scale. People will bend their Lumias, too. It's just not as sexy to talk about in the news.

The 6es are definitely bigger and thinner and tighter in a front pocket when sitting. I was uncomfortable with my 4 in a front pocket when sitting, just trying to figure out how to carry the 6. I don't carry a murse but I do have an ipad jacket case I carry, the 6 can go in there, but I don't always have the ipad.
Even so, the 6 is less fragile than a phone with glass on front and back...
Shirt pocket may be better.

Have you tried? In the videos I've seen there are guys trying their absolute hardest to bend iPhone 6's, are they doing the same to all phones? Has anyone registered "Willitbend.com" yet? I think it's a fair test for all new devices, so long as they're ALL tested the same way and not just iPhones because you know, they're Apple products, they should withstand an atomic explosion and if not should be ridiculed everywhere... :p

You had trouble being comfortable with a tiny phone such as the 4? Exactly how tiny/tight are your front pockets?

Why not make it out of plastic. It would be lighter and better for signal. Cheaper too.

As you can see its blown out of proportions and your own Plus will be fine day to day with how you've been using phones.
I don't think its blown out of proportions (Yet), and I think its a real issue. Its not cancer, its a phone that people spent a lot of money on and are now finding that normal usage habits are causing it to bend.

Thinner phone, made of a malleable metal - it being bent is not surprising, though it is disappointing

----------

Let me just this: Will I buy an IP6+? Probably, will I have to change how I carry it, no doubt. As for now, inventory has been constrained so I've not had to fully make the decision to spend the money but so far I'm planning on buying one.

All phones will bend. Just this iPhone 6 seems to bend way too easy. There were already issues with the iPhone 5 and Apple went and made the construction significantly weaker........ It's criminal.

Well, I'm returning mine. For that price I was expecting an indestructible phone.
No phone is indestructible. but there are sturdier phones - I had a Lumia icon phone and while slightly smaller then the IP6+, it felt solid so much so that I had no worries about it bending.

I don't understand why apple would go to such design lengths to make it so thin and constructed of a metal that soft. I'm quite disappointed in that fact, and was worried about this, when the rumors were flying around about the iPhone 6 being even thinner then the iPhone 5.

The article is not debunking anything. As a matter of fact it confirms that before the 5, they couldn't find any picture of bent iPhones. And the 6 Plus is pushing the 5 design even further.
You mean apart from the picture of the bent iPhone 4S in the same article?

Problems with the iPhone 4 and 4s body bending weren’t as widely reported as when the iPhone 5 and 5s launched, but it was a common problem seen at the Genius Bar and on Apple Support forums by owners who weren’t gentle enough with their devices.

are you surprised since the story broke the number of people who have had this issue is still 7?

I know everyone wants to give a free pass to apple in this forum specially but my question is, does Apple perform damage testing? I know Nokia would test their phones to see their limits, like automotive companies. Or is Apple only about making Jony happy with his vision? I did pay $1000 for my Plus and I would be upset if it bent after 1-2 years in my pocket. Thankgod I purchased AC+ because I would definitely change it if it were to happen but others might not be so lucky.

Really? How about 1) Cost, 2) weight, 3) recycleability, 4) chemical toxicity to name a few.

Apple could make their devices out of a stronger, more expensive material. Add another hundred or so $$$s to the cost of the device. No one would complain about that, right?

And can you imagine the whining if the "iphone giant" was not only supersized, but was also heavier than other phones? People would call it the "iphone brick."

Apple makes millions of these things and they know they eventually get replaced. They are constantly figuring out ways to make their devices out of easier to recycle materials that use less toxic chemicals in their manufacture. It is a design philosophy they took on a few years ago and one of those things they usually mention in EVERY keynote presentation.

Every device is a compromise between costs, weight, available materials, ease of manufacture, recycleability, etc. Not apologising, just stating why Apple makes some of it's design decisions.
