... I don't understand why apple would go to such design lengths to make it so thin and constructed of a metal that soft. I'm quite disappointed in that fact, and was worried about this, when the rumors were flying around about the iPhone 6 being even thinner then the iPhone 5.
Really? How about 1) Cost, 2) weight, 3) recycleability, 4) chemical toxicity to name a few.
Apple could make their devices out of a stronger,
more expensive material. Add another hundred or so $$$s to the cost of the device. No one would complain about that, right?
And can you imagine the whining if the "iphone giant" was not only supersized, but was also
heavier than other phones? People would call it the "iphone brick."
Apple makes millions of these things and they know they eventually get replaced. They are constantly figuring out ways to make their devices out of
easier to recycle materials that use
less toxic chemicals in their manufacture. It is a design philosophy they took on a few years ago and one of those things they usually mention in EVERY keynote presentation.
Every device is a compromise between costs, weight, available materials, ease of manufacture, recycleability, etc. Not apologising, just stating why Apple makes some of it's design decisions.
