Makes no sense to me either. And what market do they think they'd have for these? Why would they just throw it all away vs. plugging toward using the stuff for the next product rev?
Anthony, you and others seem to not be aware that GT's main business before this started with Apple is the manufacturing of Sapphire furnaces (and other esoteric devices) for sale to other manufacturing companies. Since this Apple/GT deal has basically taken the majority of Sapphire furnaces off the market as the Arizona plant has bought the majority (All?) of them being made by GT, the sale of the furnaces should not be very hard I would think, especially at the "used" price they are likely to be available at.
