That's the part where you get to do a 4G download from Apple Software Update. :)

Heck, you guys are quick! :)

Are you saying that in addition to downloading the 1.18GB combo update, I am going to be forced to download another 4GB of data to complete Snow Leopard 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 ?

Running the Combo Update that was given in the link, and it says:

"Mac OS X Server Update Combined can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update"

:eek::eek::eek:

What went wrong? Doesn't that Combo work on my Leopard 10.6.3 ?

thekev, that link you gave, it's not for my iMac?

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1402

Is that "server" update, is that why it won't work on my iMac Snow Leopard?

What must I do to update from 10.6.3 to the latest 10.6.8? can someone please help me?

Did thekev give me the wrong link? :(

I downloaded the file thekev gave me, and the one OLDCODGER validated, but searching google, I think it's the WRONG file, and I should have grabbed this following one instead?

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399

Is there anyone here who can please help me and point me to the right file I need to upgrade to 10.6.8?

Thank you.

Use Software Update, it is under the Apple Menu in the Menu Bar.

And, no the server Update won't work if you have the normal OS X installed.

And, you do not need to download 4 GB again, that's the standalone download for a clean Lion or Mountain Lion Install

Edit: That link seems to be OK, it should be the right one, but if you don't know the System that well it is much easier to use Software Update.

I just downloaded over 1GB of the wrong file :( I believe thekev gave me the wrong link?

I wish you had have written to me earlier as I did what you said and it only installed 4 small files, and now it says I am running 10.6.8

Thank you justperry:)

If it says you are running 10.6.8 it is so.

If you want to check the version of the OS, click on the Apple in the Menu and click the About this mac subMenu, what does it say?

I think the link the kev gave you is wrong, it is the server one.

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1402

But the one in your link seems to be different.

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399

See the difference, the first one is server, the second is the normal one.

I will check again because when I clicked the link in your last mail it directed me to the non server one while when I clicked on theKevs link it did not and that's odd.

By the way, I updated one of my former post, all in Bold.

EDIT: TheKev did give you the wrong link, you need the 1.09 GB one, http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399

Your link which you found yourself and which I clicked is the good one.

Ok thank you. downloaded then 1.18GB combo update now.

And Install completed. It says I can install Xcode and Optional Installs, should I?

That's not really necessary. It's an IDE. You use it for coding.

Doh! I'm not sure how I missed that. :(
