I get internet through my apartment's LAN cable which they provide. I've got a few devices so I need a router. Can I just get any wireless router and plug in that LAN cable and it will work?

Yes, it should do. Does the router just allow access or are you required to log in using some method to use it?

I recommend that you get a router that is supported by DD-WRT in case the original firmware is weak.

In this case, it's good to look for one with at least 8MB of flash.

The hardware of the Asus RT-N16 is a beast, but I haven't tried it.

Actually I ain't sure because I've yet to move into that apartment. Let's say it requires log in, will that work as well?

Is there anything cheaper than that Netgear N router? I only need G as it's just a small studio room. Any standard Cisco, Netgear, D-Link are all good?

Anybody know if any of the basic level G wireless routers support the web login stuff of a LAN? When I connect to the LAN and access the internet I get prompted with a web login set by the apartment peeps. I need to know which router enables me to login this thing.
