I upgraded one of our IMACS to Lion and now want to go back to Snow Leopard due to Lion's incompatibility with Office 2004. (Yes I should have done my research prior to the install.) I use Time Machine. Can I restore the computer to the preinstall by restoring with Time Machine? Will this restore the Snow Leopard operating system?

Yes, but you need to do a couple of pre-steps.

First you'll need to boot off the SL disks, then select disk utility to create a single partition. That way you eliminate the recovery partition.
Then select the Time Machine restore from the menu (tools menu I believe)
