Mail badge? Not sure what you mean, but if you are just talking about how many unread mails I have in my inbox....0!
I'm somewhat OCD about that. All my mails are either read and filed or trashed. My gf has thousands of unread mails in her box, and whenever I walk by her computer it drives me crazy!
Mine is 1, and that's only because I've been doodling around here on MR.

I have three accounts. My work account hangs around 100, general mail around 25, and junk varies. I'm at 145 right now. It never ends.
I'm at 0. It actually bugs me when I have a number on there - so I try to get rid of it as soon as possible - on both accounts that I have on my phone.

0. I don't use the Mail app. It's too dumbed down for my liking.
I'm using Entourage. I should upgrade to Office 2010, but Entourage works fine for me at the moment.
As for how many mail messages unread in my inbox, none. Entourage is always open notifying me of new mail which I check when it comes in.

Is it mainly junk mail?
I just don't think I could ever reach that amount of unread mail. I know I don't receive much (the average is around 7-8 per day), but how do you have so many unread mails?
I know I often times do not read mail as I know the contents by merely looking at the subject line. I hardly get any junk mail
I actively stay on top of my email and immediately read or delete every email that comes in as soon as i see it. I can't stand having unread mail.
The main mailboxes of my two accounts are at 0. I tend to read those emails immediately.
Most of my mail goes to folders via rules I set up. Right now there's one unread in Shopping (e.g. eBay, Apple, WalMart) and three unread in Socials (e.g. FaceBook, Twitter, Google +) That stuff is usually less urgent.
