iPhone 5 First Impressions

Hi all,

So, my new iPhone has been delivered and everything is set up! I'm one of those lucky Aussies who live in the future :P

Anyway, I'm pretty impressed with this pocket beast! It is certainly a lot quicker than my iPhone 4.

The screen size is noticeably taller. The change in aspect ratio feels good. The lack of increase in width seems awkward in photos, but when you hold it you understand how much more comfortable it feels when compared to a wider phone. The dock is so tiny now! I almost missed it when checking out the bottom of the device. The speaker grills also look great in the finished modal. They do not appear as large as photos portray them to be.

Feel free to shoot me any questions or leave feedback of your own when your new toy arrives!

What color did you get? Also, any thoughts or feelings on the black scuffing (assuming you have the black one)?

Do you have the black model? If so, do you have these "scuff" marks on the sides that everyone is freaking out about?

if your phone is black, can you try to scratch the side?

I got the 64GB White so I cannot comment on the scuffing allegations

Grab a key and wipe it on aluminum to see if there are any raw alu marks. I'm serious, crowd is waiting.

How do the speakers sound? BGR said someone in the next room thought they were listening to a TV when they played video from their 5.
Wow, your phone looks like this in that pic . The box looks huge too. It's gotta be distorted.

I think the box is bigger to accommodate for the bigger wall plug.

Nice you got a white one. Can you please post a pic of the back of it?

Oh and this is better than the iPhone 10.

Here are a couple photos of the message app...it does lend more room. However, I'm not a fan of the landscape keyboard set up.

I'm at work so not near my macbook for a material comparison. The brushed Al on the back of the phone has a silver colour but seems slightly smoother than my mid 2010 MBP. The cut edges are highly glossed and look very cool next to the white face. The white bands separating the antennas is a nice touch also.

And also within the message app...quick job on editing details so don't judge on that.

There is more room to view messages and for the text history in each the message also

Cheers for the pics mate! Mine should be arriving next week I think.

How's the 3G (or 4G speed if you can get it) going?

Also - battery life?!?!?

Australian boxes are so tall because they have a HUMONGOUS power outlet connector.
