If iPad Mini has an A5, and iPad 2 has an A5 (which is nearly 2 years old). The iPad 2 is expected to go down with software updates at the end of iOS 6, if the iPad Mini has the same chip, will it only last 1-2 iOS versions (iOS 6,7)

I sincerely doubt they would stop supporting it when iOS7 comes out......... that would be absurd.

Definitely will last past 6. But I guess that's one concern for people who want to keep this for a few years, while putting the iPad 2 hardware in it was smart, it may not get all the latest features of iOS.

Me, I just plan on updating the Mini yearly.

Yeah if I keep mine i'll likely upgrade next year and sell this year's. I expect the 2nd gen to be much nicer.

I just bought the 64gb Lte Black with Gray smart cover. If I am going to keep this for a year, I made the wrong choice.

The ipad mini has Siri

Ipad 2 doesn't

This tells me they make sure future updates support the mini

iOS 8 with limited features as part of their planned obsolescence. Still better than Android though.

Why is that the wrong choice? Sure it's the top-end configuration, but just get the size you want.
