Does your 11" MBA heat up when closed and connected to you a TBD?
Whoops - connected to a tbd...or to your TBD. couldn't pick one, so i went with wrong.
TAKE luck. At work i've always kept my laptop open when connected to an external display. primarily because this gives me 2 monitors, but also because they tend to get VERY hot when running closed. Is that the case w/ the MBAs? I was thinking about getting one of those arcbook things and just using a wireless keyboard/trackpad - but if the unit gets too hot to use like that, i'll just use the laptop itself. thoughts? |

I have a 2011 13" MBA and use an old 23" Apple Cinema display most of the time with it. It definitely gets hotter with the lid closed. Whether it's actually a problem, I don't know - probably not. But I just find it annoying to hear the fan kick up to high speed, so I leave the cover open with the brightness turned all the way down on the built-in screen.

MBA 11 - connected to 27" LG monitor - closed all the time - 98% used this way, never moves from 122 degrees, never heard a fan yet...
