Quickdraw? What? Didn't Apple phase that out in like 10.1?

It seems to have links with safari and mail and a buffer overflow could cause a malicous script to be executed or something to that affect (from the security info on the apple site)

Interesting that they're getting to things before Secunia reports them as trouble. Take that, Secunia!

QuickDraw was basically moth balled back when Mac OS X came out being superseded by Quartz 2D. Of course it continues to work to this day in Mac OS X however it hasn't seen any optimizations made in a long time. As of Mac OS X 10.4 Apple considers it fully deprecated and it is likely it will disappear in a future major release of Mac OS X.

With resolution independent display support almost ready to go in Mac OS X 10.4 Apple wants QuickDraw to go away.

Likely the products referenced use it for PICT support but that is about it.

The Security Update 2005-008 has two versions:

For Mac OS X 10.3.9

For Mac OS X 10.4.2

The iPod update (software update 2005-09-23) has a bug fix for the iPod shuffle and the latest software for the other iPods, so it's likely of interest only to shuffle owners.

Grrrrrrrr... So close!

I want my iPod color update! Those nano people get Screen Lock, World Clock, Stopwatch, Lyrics, and a tweaked UI! Me want!

MWSF Maybe? With the iPod 5G if it comes out?

a big, fatty, for Shuffle bug fixes. Mine behaves oddly sometimes... it forgets where it is in the playlist, always starting on the same song from a power-off state. Or sometimes it just stops playing and flashes green until I reset it! Cuh-razy

Security update on a Thursday? I think we will see 10.4.3 next week. (wild speculation)

despite the fact their is a new ipod software update out, it does not contain updates to the ipod photo or color ipods at all.. ~sigh~ maybe next time.. i would think the 3d world clocks and the stopwatch that are implemented in the nano would be an easy firmware addition to the photo/color series ipods.
