Would Like Your Input.
I all. Been working making photo-real images. Just wondering what you all think of this. Any ideas what could make it look more real? This was modeled, and rendered in Lightwave 11.5.

Overall, a pretty good job, but it would look a lot more realistic if you had more definition on the control buttons, as they look a little blurry in the image. I get what you did with the light though, just a touch more "crispness" on them and it would really look the business.

It's a good looking model, and I think that it by far has enough detail to produce a realistic render with the right lighting and render settings.
Judging by the button in the middle, I can see that you've got some sort of outdoor environment around it for reflection, which is alright. I would choose an indoor scene, though, since that's where you'd normally find a stereo, and it'll have more details to reflect. Watch this video to learn about global illumination in Lightwave and 3D graphics in general. You'll notice in your image that some of your shadows are entirely black, which is unrealistic. The GI tutorial that I linked to above should help you out with that. You could also use a bit of ambient occlusion, which will make it shaded darker in the cracks and crevices, making it look more realistic. If you feel so inclined, please do post whatever improvements that you make to this when they're done. I'd like to see. |

These two images are the difference between literally checking two checkboxes (GI+AO), so render settings are very important.

Your image looks ok...but lacks correct lens perspective. Also seems to be lacking a GI lighting setup and AO as above said. I dont know lightwave but in c4D the difference between the stock render engine and Advance render engine is night and day. Maybe you need to start experimenting with a new render setup. Product rendering is all about the lighting Setup...when you "crack it" you can retire a happy man.

ambient occlusion...it adds shadow depth between faces. It can help define edges...think of it as adding pop to your renders.
